Need torque values for TRD supercharger install

Hi,

I just found this site and it looks to be full of good info and people!

I just purchased a TRD supercharger for my 2002 3.4L Tacoma and it's sitting there just dying to be installed.

Before I begin I need to find out some of the proper torque values. The install instructions say "consult the manual" in several places. The problem being I don't have the manual and don't want to wait for one to arrive.

Specifically I need the torque for:

1) Water pump housing's upper stud
2) Alternator pivot bolt
3) Alternator pinch nut
4) Intake manifold bolts and nuts
5) Throttle body bolts and nuts

Much thanks to anyone that has the tacoma "bible".

I'm really bummed that they don't list
these values in the install manual. I'm planning on getting the books anyway, I just don't want to have to wait for them to arrive before I install the SC.

The is my first Mod for this truck. Wish me luck.

Well, here's some numbers from my Haynes manual for the 3.4 engine:

4. Intake manifold nuts/bolts: 13 ft/lbs

5. Throttle body mounting bolts: 144 in/lbs

I couldn't find any numbers for the alternator pivot and lock bolts. Regarding the water pump, the bolts that attach the pump to the block are torqued to 168 in/lbs, is that what you are referring to by "water pump housing upper stud"?

OK, good luck!

Thanks, that helps. I was just going to guestimate the values if I didn't get any replys.

Still need the values for the Alternator pivot and pinch bolts.

I would expect they are the same or similar to what would be used on any 4Runner or T100 with the same 3.4L engine.

You people that have installed the SC already. What torque values did you use here?

Thanks,
-Jeff-

Jeff,
The install instructions probably say NOT to install the IAC check valve. INSTALL IT!

You can contact me off-line if you want to discuss the nuances of the install on a 2002.

Actually, the instruction say to install it unless you have a 2001
or newer 4Runner. I have a Tacoma. I don't know why the 4Runner
would be any different with the same engine.

I started the install yesterday and I'm about 2/3's of the way
there. I went ahead and decided to install the 7th injector kit
and iridium plugs at the same time. I didn't want to have to
pull everything apart again.

The tensioners for the power steering and alternator could not
be in a more difficult place. I wish the engineers building
these things would consider matainence.

DO NOT torque the studs in the manifold when you install the longer ones for the 7th Injector. That is wrong, you torque the nuts when you install the injector and just snug the studs in before.
