Need Opinions on Polyurethane Body Mounts

I'm looking to get a 1" body lift install soon and thought about replacing the oem rubber bushings with a set of poly ones while I was at it. However, I've heard mix reviews on the poly mounts.

Some owners who have installed a set of the poly bushings complain that b/c the mounts are so stiff, a lot of vibration can now be felt while driving (so much so, that one owner removed his altogether). Others who have installed them said there was no change in ride quality.

I have also read that b/c these poly bushings are so stiff, they do great off road, keeping the body nice and tight to the frame. However, I do a good bit of hwy driving, so any comfort in my current ride I can keep is a plus.

Anyone who's run a set of poly mounts, what has been your experience?

I have a set--i think there is a little more noise, but not that big of a deal. Just curious--are you using the Roger Brown Lift?

I got Roger Brown's poly mounts (no lift). I think if my truck was brand new, there probably wouldn't any added noise but since I've got over 200k mi on the odometer I have tired bearings, ujoints, suspension bushings etc. I think the noise these worn out parts make is transferred thru the poly mounts a little bit more. I guess that is a good thing in a way though, you'll definitely know when you need to take your truck in to have something looked at.

Looking back, I probably would have saved my money and stayed with the original mounts. I am not unhappy with them, I just realize now there was nothing really wrong with the original mounts.

Am I using the RB Lift...not sure what you mean? I'm currently running the SS 7.1 Lift. I had thought about purchasing the poly mounts from him though.

I mean by RB lift--are you running his Body Lift (the UHMW Spacers) and the poly mounts--they are supposed to keep the truck from moving around alot on the frame.

but for all intents and purposes--now that i think back about it--i could have stayed with the original mounts also. If yours are good--then leave them and just add the body lift blocks. My .02

Oh ok...no, I'm not currently running either his BL or his poly spacers. I'll be getting the 1" pucks from WabFab for the BL. We had thought about replacing the body mounts at the same time, but I wanted to get opinions first before I changed my oem ones out.

I'll probably stick with my oem bushings though as long as they're okay.

If your OEM bushings are not bad i would keep them.

Just a side note--Are you planning on going 35"s? If so i think you would need the 1 1/2" BL pucks.

Me, i have SS 7.1 and 1.5" RB BL so i can run 35's

That was my understanding anyways

Good luck

Yeah, I still need to get under my truck and check out my oem mounts first. (Some how I keep forgetting to do this everytime I pull in the driveway.)

I just thought I'd get some opinions on the polys ones too though just in case.

No, not planning to run 35's ever. 33's is the largest I want. I'm not doing the BL just for the 33's, but mainly b/c I simply want another 1" of lift

fair enough--I was also on the fence between 35's and 33's.....

Good luck with the project--it is pretty easy to do

Hi,

I'm planning to replace the stock body mount bushings on my truck with new OEM bushings. The parts have not yet arrived but I'd like to plan on how to do it.

Are there special tools required to do it?

Is there a write-up somewhere on how to replace the body mounts? That would be a big help.

When the old bushing is removed, the gap between the upper and lower mounts might close (i think), how do I deal with that?

Thanks!
