My New Wheels Hit The Calipers!? Wahh

my new rockcrawler wheels dont fit over my calipers, what should i do? Does anyone make a 1/8 or 1/4" wheel spacer for us tacomas?

If the wheels are still turning and you hit as the wheel turns, you can see where the wheels hit the calipers on the calipers, so just grind them a tad and you'll clear fine. I did that to a friend's less than 2 months ago and it is cheaper than spacers and much less trouble. Grind, paint the calipers after masking off with aluminum foil and you are good to go.

That's what happened when I got some 15" black steelies made by US Wheels for my Xterra. It drove fine when I first put it on (w/ worn brakes), but when I put new brake pads on the front, the wheel totally locked my vehicle up. I ordered some 1" spacers from this online wheel place from Colorado for ~$50 a piece. It ran fine for the streets and some mild off-roading, but most people highly recommended against using them if you do any major off-roading. I guess for around $50/piece, you're better off getting a new set of black steelies with proper bs and or offset since they're pretty cheap.

I got 1/4" spacers from PEP-BOYS for $6.50 a piece and they have worked fine for the last 12,000 miles.I've done mild wheeling & they haven't loosened up or cracked yet.

I've heard spacers tear stuff up though, What should i do?

I already suggested what you should do. It's an easy fix and cheaper than spacers and nothing to worry about at all.

yeah but like someone said, what if i get new brake pads and it locks up from rubbing again?

Really???
After seeing a Solara's rims disintegrate in front of me on a freeway, I can't think of any reason to willingly go at it to a set of aftermarket wheels...
then again I know barely anything about metal

it's not your brake pads that are rubbing so new brake pads shouldn't be a factor. just grind like Brian said.

Just grind them down. This is somthing that happens a lot. All the guys on TTORA that had this happen did the same. We're not talking a lot of metal. It can be done with a Dremel. You're just knocking the edge off the corner of the caliper. Its pretty thick there.

it's not rubbing where you guys are explaining though. It's rubbing on the angular spot closest to the bolts. LIke on that down sloping part it's rubbing. And as far as the brake pads, With new brake pads the floating caliper would be wider to accomadate the new pads, and as they wear the caliper gets slightly narrower. Hopefully u see what i'm saying.

kind of, but my calipers don't get wider when I install new pads.
