My "New" Ride

I scored a very nice new Toyota this week.

2004 Tacoma Xtracab TRD. 3.4 V6, 5 speed, locker, all the goodies. Also has almost new BFG ATs, OME coils and Toytech spacer and shackles for about 3 inches of lift and a bedliner and roll-up cover. The best part though, it has less than 33K miles and is as clean as a used vehicle from the south or out west, does not look like an Ohio truck one bit.

Here are a few pics:

I was owned by a cool guy who is a big Toyota 4x4 guy and a TTORA member.

I want it to last me 10 years and I don't plan to wheel it for the sake of wheeling but it will be my main rig so it will be going camping and such.

Plans are pretty simple as of now:
-CB and/or HAM radio
-GPS
-Bolt on sliders
-ARB bumper
-Winch... maybe...
-Rear bumper
-A locking storage box that will fit under the bed cover
-Husky liners

And that about does it. Already has fog and aux. reverse lights and a hitch with the wiring. Can't really think of anything else I need for a DD. Any suggestions for the above mods would be great. I know almost nothing about who makes what for Tacos and such. Also if there are any "mods" that are free/cheap (like the jumper to power the 12 volt outlets constantly) please let me know, I'm a newb all over again here folks

Please and thanks!

Man, when it comes to used Tacos it doesn't get any better than that. It has everything - even bad ass tires. Congrats! The bed covers are nice, but I say get a camper shell and make some cool storage compartments inside. Nice find!

Realisticly I should sell it but I doubt I could even get 6 for it. I'm thinking lunchbox lockers and drive it like I stole it

Drool... I could never think of what I would get if something were to cause me to buy a new vehicle. I think a Taco just like that would be the answer. Extra Cab 4x4 3.4L, 5-Speed and locker. Nice truck!

Miles, there won't be any blinky lights on the Taco. I no longer work for the department I responded from home on calls for. It's just the 24/48 thing for me now. Actually, most of the lights from the 95 will be for sale as soon as I strip them if you are interested but judging by your avatar I'm not sure

Two cheap mods to be done immediately - rear breather ext. and grey wire mod.

That is one clean truck. One thing you need to do is get that K&N filter out of there, go to Toyota and get a nice clean OEM filter in its place.

Also, ever thought about a shell instead of the tool box? I've been kicking myself for selling my shell. Easily lock large quantities of cargo in the bed, keeps your gear dry (which is what I miss most), and since you've got a 6' bed, you can sleep back there. Anyway, that's what I'd do.

EDIT: Isn't Ohio in the rust belt? You might have to get your frame treated by the Toyota dealership for the extended frame warranty to apply. I'd check with your local dealership ASAP.

Well good deal, save you some cash on gas. I'm in the same situation right now I wasn't planning on keeping lights on my new one but after a few times of pulling up on a wreck I think I'm going to. So yeah I'll send you a PM when you get what ever your looking to sell of the Runner give me a shout. I'll be happy to take some of it off your hands.

And yeah bummer with what happened to my old one

Also, Slick ride, didn't say that before

Nice truck! I second this. I regret selling my camper shell. One thing if you do the camper shell route, beef up the leaf springs.....
