My butt is sagging!!
I cant deny it any longer. I got a good, long look at my profile today in a store-front window down town. My butt is sagging!:eek: Oh sure, you SAY "when it happens to me, I'll accept it with dignity." BULL!!! I'm not gonna go quietly!! I'm going to do SOMETHING about this. God, I felt like every one was staring.
I know how UK and Corey felt. (and some of you others too) Downeys? The 1.5 in. h.d. is the spring of choice I believe, that right? Can I get away w/ just cranking the frt. torsions a bit to "catch-up" a bit? I'll never run bigger than 31's.... planning on 30.5. What 'cha all think?

if you dont want any lift, just get some OEM replacements. but then you run into sag problems later down the road. i would get the Downey's you mentioned of, or get the OME med duty ones i used on my '93. you can crank your t-bars or get some SAW t-bars (preferred) to level it out. you could run 32s with that, or you can run 31s with an 8" wheel.

Like Ryan said, factory new ones will just sag again.
Put some beef back there in the aft end with a set of Downey HD's.
My stance with 31" tires, Downey HD coils, and SAW T bars cranked up to match the rear.
I easily have room for 32" tires now.

You can do the stock T bars, as you don't need the 25mm ones unless you pre run fast in desert like conditions, or have 150 lb worth of aftermarktet bumper & winch up front.
It would also be a good time now to be on the lookout for a pair of manual hubs.
It takes the stress off the CVs after you dial in a lift up front.
There have been posts here with links to some selling on EBay.
Also try the online Toyota graveyards, and this new guy I just found out about last week.

Thanks for the input! They are the 1.5 in HD coils then? I'd probably be interested in some torsion bars in the future. Corey, I have been on the look out for some hubs...... They are my next mod. (did the air intake tube mod from Blu)
Cebby, hows the power loss w/ the 32's? Bearable? A friend here has a set of 33x9.5 BFG's he'd like to sell me.... poblem is, they only have about 10 MAYBE 15k left on them. I dunno.

Mine came with factory 31's, so the gearing is already 4.56 (I think). The power off the line is great, at highway speeds, it is still OK (better than stock). I think my intake/exhaust mods have over compensated for the loss. I couldn't take it with 31's and the stock setup. :mad: Started modding right away...
My next set of tires will be 33's on 15x8's, but I will also do a big bore TB and headers (and a 1" body lift). I want to avoid a gearing change until I do a SAS.

Well, I learned the hard way last month. I finally put on the 32x11.5x15's I've always wanted. It looked awesome and was fine for around town but on my trip up to Colorado it kept surging in and out of overdrive constantly on the highway even on the slightest of hills. My gas mileage dropped from 250 miles/tank to 150! :eek: I finally had to stop in Pueblo and downsize back to the 31x10.5x15's and the problem went away. Too bad the 2nd gens don't have any power to spare for this mod. The 32's are way cool and fit easily under a slightly lifted 4Runner. My next Toy will have a V8 for sure...

Downey HD coils are the way to go! Depending on how badly you've sagged you may not need to crank your T-bars at all. I never touched mine when I did this mod. I am 1/4" taller in the rear at present. Will probbably crank eventually. Just remember if you mess with the T-bars to get an alignment done it afterwards!
