To mod or not to mod...that is the question!?!?!?
ok, here is my quandry, I have a very nice 89 4runner that has an extremely clean interior, no rust at all 95k miles ice cold ac and everything works like new. It could use a new paint job (been keyed pretty bad) should I continue to restore it and use as my DD or lock and lift it? and play ? I really like the ride (better than my suburban) gets good mileage (20mpg) cruise works....yada yada yada. now here's my $$ cruncher, I have one toddler and found out her sibling is on the way.. ... I have no plans on getting rid of it... so should I keep it stock and enjoy Toyota's indefinite lifespan (and maybe get a beater version for a trail truck ) or should I pump it up some and let loose!?!?!
either way, I'm about ready for some mild north Texas wheelin'

If you say "mild north Texas wheelin" why don't you do mild options on it. You can still play in it while enjoying all the advantages of the Toyota name (long life, mpg etc...)

imho, mod up the 89. youve got the suburban for the growing family and the missuss would probably kill you if you tried taking it offroadin! check out 4crawlers rig, his is an 85, hes got some nice equipment on it. that will give you an idea of what you can do depending on how addicted you become!

I'm with the go for it camp. There's no reason to maintain this one like a classic and go buy another one - it isn't as if this is an irreplaceable collector rig... Use it for what it was built to do - go places!

I'm probably going to mod on, just on a lighter scale (total chaos sure looked good). It seems like there are several very affordable mod recipies on the board here that are reliable and do-able and most importantly streetable.....
I guess I'll put the SAS idea's on hold

thereis very little that has to be done to that rig to be able to have alot of fun with it. We need to get you out to BMRA to see what it will do.

Why mod it? Does the truck not do what you want it to do? Besides, with another on the way, are you going to have the time and resources to enjoy the new mods?
