Misfire, lost on the problem

I got a 97 Tacoma (5vzfe) with a blown engine. So, I picked up a used one and installed it. Now it runs bad, and has a misfire code for cylinder 5 & 6.

I had installed non-twin electrode plugs, so I swapped them out for some twin electrode. When I pulled them, one plug was black, the others seemed fine.

I have tried:
Swapping plug wires (new)
Swapping Coils
Swapping Injectors

The firing order is verified correct.

The engine is supposed to have less than 100k miles. I am hoping somebody will say, "I had that problem, it was an easy fix..."

dirty/clogged injectors maybe the firing order is mix matched or bad coil.

As said above check the coils and injectors, maybe check the compression too. Could possibly be a valve problem but try the other stuff first.

Let's just say the mis-fire is cyl 6, is that the one in the back of the engine nearest the driverside? And if so, the three on that side are just wires, the coil packs are on the left side of the engine.

Is there a way to check those injectors without pulling the top half off?

I was pulling multiple mis-fires and mis-fire in 3 and 6. The truck was stuttering pretty bad, before I pulled my plugs.

They looked smoky, like carbon build up or something.

When I buttoned it up and took er out, the idle was rough and running pretty high, but then again it has been sitting for two weeks before I could get to it with all the rain we've been having here.

Get a set of NGK plugs and get rid of then "stupid brand" plugs in there for one. Is it only missing on those 2 cyls stated? What other codes? You may have and intake manifold leak near the "runners" to those cylinders. Could Also be valve clearnace. Check timing marks on the timing belt/sprockets.

Yeah, that's what I did, was put in some NGK's.

It's only missing on those two. I also pulled a code for insufficient bank one o2, but I think it is releveant to those two mis-firing.

I have 214k on my 4Runner, so it's seen some days. After searching on here for awhile tonight...what you say about a manifold leak is interesting---It seems as my Valve cover gaskets are toast.

It makes sense now that the plugs had carbon and possibly a little oil on them. There is lots of oil build up on the outside of them, leaking down onto the headers.

Looks like I'll be ordering some of those up tomorrow, and open up my schedule for saturday to tackle that part out.

I just picked up a compression guage tester, so I'll hit that up before I start pulling things apart

Compression gauge tester are they expensive and is it hard to test?

Valve cover gaskets leaking oil into the plugs will also foul them out very quickly. I think you first step is new plugs(atleast on those cylinders missing) and valve cover gaskets.
