Hi, sorry but the hood isn't for auction.
The valence + bull bar = JDM. Clear bumper lens = aftermarket. Fogs = Catz.
And the above is the BEFORE look. the AFTER look is:
Note the front bumper protector, it makes your Runner look less fat lip-ish. Another example that the Japanese really only leave the best for themselves.

Hi Vato Loco, yes I think I can get most JDM parts esp. if you have the SKU#. Once I have compiled a page dedicated to 4Runner (3rd & 4th gen.) JDM parts, I will let you guys know. I just checked my catalogues but I don’t see any clear 3rd brake light. They don’t even have clear bumper lights, only clear corner lamps when it comes to JDM parts. Correct me if I am wrong though.
Hi CLin9383, can you see the Bumper Protector now? It sits right on top of the fat lip - sort of giving you the illusion that the lip has been raised. But in fact it adds to the overall thickness of it. It only fits ’99 – ’02 Runners. ’98 did NOT come w/ fat lip.

yea i see it now...so what you are sayin here is, you swapped out your small lip and put on the fat lip from the 99's and then added the bumper guard?? or am i totally off base?

yea i wouldn't mind doing the add on or just swapping to a 99 bumper with fog's...but i dont really like the fat lip look...is it possible to have just the valence with the fog lights? i dont really want the thing that says HILUX SURF..due to the fact half of the people here wouldnt know what is was...

CLin9383: I destroyed the stock ’98 bumper in an accident. My body shop converted the whole front to the 2002 look per my request. Every thing you see in the front is 100% US OEM except for the Bumper Protector which is JDM and which is an add-on. So, I took nothing off the front.
Vato Loco: Sorry but I have no bull-bar left after the accident. But both this bull-bar (with the Hilux Surf letterings) & the JDM valence ‘were’ available in the States – Hawaii to be exact. At one time, a specially fixed-up 4Runner with this exact front (minus the headlight covers & the 2002 front grille) was available via those Hawaiian Toyota dealers. What I am telling you is that as long as you can get these 2 SKU# from those Hawaiian dealers, you can either order via them or I can try to find these for you from Japan. But once you get into an accident in the future, it can be a royal pain to source this bull-bar again.
CLin9383: I also dislike the stock ’99 look. I call it the ‘Class III’ look – which is an orthodontic classification to describe a protruding lower jaw. But I think this Bumper Protector makes it look much better. Then again it’s my personal opinion. You guys may think otherwise. To answer your question, yes, the valence & the bull-bar are two separate parts. You can have one or the other. But not all valences can accommodate this JDM bull-bar, the Performance Products one, for instance, just cannot without some re-contouring.

wow that clears up A TON...i knew the two valences looked different but i didnt want to sound dumb if they weren't....but yea, i thought about the performance product valence but those lights are driving lights and may blind other drivers so they wouldnt be practical for everyday driving. i wanted something simple and yet functional...idealy i'd like to have the 99 fatty lip with no fatty lip look...but the next best thing is the valence add on...if you could get that SKU i'll see if my local yota dealer can get it or i'd be willing to have it shipped here...
there is another thread in the private sale section where is guy is selling his whole bumper and valence off his 99...but the only thing is..i have a CHROME back bumper and that would look silly with the new black painted 99 bumper..but i definetly like the fogs in the jdm valence...oh yea..nice looking truck!

You have any idea how much that bumper add on cost? I have a parts sheet that I purchased from the US, there is a part number for that bumper add on for the 1996-1998, but I'm not sure if its available to the dealers in the US or Canada. Here are some of the part numbers that are in the parts sheet:
Factory Installed
40th Anniversary Package - 52401-35020
Dealer Installed Accesory
black - 00214-89975-01
chrome - 00214-89975-13
Cover Assembly, Bumper Guard
40th Anniversary Package
Gray - 52403-35070-B0
Green - 52403-35070-H0
Do any of these part numbers match up with the bumper add on (96-98) we're talking about?

CLin9383: I don’t think I can get that SKU # any easier than you do. I was hoping that you can get me that so that I can ask my Japanese source to check on availability & pricing. Last time that I checked, I don’t see this bull-bar or valence listed anymore. My Runner also came w/ chrome bumpers, I am not really a chrome person so I have them changed to black ones within 2 months.
Vato Loco: Let’s do this by PM.

Don't mean to hijack the thread.
clin9383: I still have my 99 chrome bumper/valence with fogs for sale. PM me for details.

To Ciaran: the bug deflector is made by an Australian company called EGR. Product name is BodyGuard. More info here: http://www.egrauto.com/ENG/html/IDAK4O0B.html . It differs from their SuperGuard in that this one has some indentations on its surface. I got mine at a local store for $70. Part # 384651 (smoke color). It requires no drilling and uses no tapes.
To A+: if things go well, you will see the Front Bumper Protector for sale soon on my upcoming Hilux Surf JDM page. I did a lot of little cosmetic mods. Too many to list here but I have a detailed list which is to be linked from the aforementioned page. When it comes to performance mods, I supercharged mine & am also using Hyper Ground System for more HP gain.

The OEM Front Bumper Guard consists of 2 main portions: the Front Bumper Guard (which is the backbone) as well as the Front Bumper Pad. Then you need the bolts as well.
SKU# 52401-35020 = Front Bumper Guard.
SKU# 52403-35070-B0 = Front Bumper Pad in gray (color 1AS)
SKU# 52403-35070-H0 = Front Bumper Pad in green (color 751)
I will check on availability & pricing this week. PM me if you are interested please.
Edward
