In post #15 of the thread, Ringmaster sets out the reset procedures from the TSB (which applies to the 99 and 00 4Runners). I see you have a Tacoma, so I have no clue whether this will work for you. Anyway, this is what Ringmaster posted in the other thread:

Electrical EL010-99 99 & 00 4Runner

Vehicle has to be sitting on a level surface with an inclination of +/- 0.5 degrees.

1.With the ignition switch in the Off position, press and hold the trip speedometer reset button.
2. Continue pressing the reset button while turning the ignition switch to the On position.
3. Within 5 seconds of turning the ignition switch On, release the trip switch, press trip switch 3 times and on the 3rd press, hold the switch for 5 seconds. The buzzer will sound for 1 second at 800HZ.
4. After the buzzer stops, release the trip switch.
5.Press the trip switch one more time and hold for 5 seconds. Once more the buzzer will sound for 1 second at 800HZ.

Luckily my low fuel light works since my fuel gauge doesn't. I usually don't try and go farther than about 20 miles once the light says on constant.

I also drive a 2000 4Runner but mine is a 2.7. Before my last fill up, I drove about 40 miles after the light came. The needle was below the bottom line, and I still had over 4 gallons left. I still get nervous everytime the needle gets that low...haha.

Oh well, it doesn't apply to my 4Runner. I have a '96 and that tech note is for '99 and '00 trucks. Thanks anyway Scubaduck!

Man, mine is really sensitive, fuel gage looks like it drops in a linear fashion, but the light comes on early and I fueled up after the light came on and stayed on for like 10 miles, it only took 13.2 gallons, that means I have like 5 gallons left when the light comes on, a good 80-100 miles.

I'm going to try that recalibration thing and see if it does anything for the low gas light.
