LC80 rear axle swap?
Free floating axles, large 9 1/2" R&P, OEM locker plus discs.
Only drawback is that the diff is not centered. It's way of to the right.
After taking a close look and opening it up I think that it's possible to use two short axles and shorten the left side axlehousing.
Next I can place the brackets from my spare 4R axle over to this axle and regear.
The current 80 series track is 160 cm. My 4R has 150 cm. Using 2 short axles would shorten my track from 160 to 141 cm, which is only 2 cm less than the track of my front LC70 axle. Adding a set of spacers would add another 6 cm so I would end up with a track width of 147 cm (58").
What do you guys think? Am I smoking my own product too much or should this work?

Good luck with this.
Because a lot of people have wanted the same thing, on the state side, we have a rear disc kit and can retrofit e-lockers. Probably a lot easier, but it might be more direct for you to source axles rather than aftermarket stuff.

Actually I allready swapped to discs and have retrofitted a 8" locker some time ago.
I know that everything looks like my car has been permanently towed behind a salt truck, but water and salt are unfortunately some of the drawbacks of that country I'm living in.
The only reason I want to do this swap is because I allready had to adjust the V6 diff because of wear (too much play between the gears). I also have a large history of broken 8" R&P's.
I paid $800 for my 8" OEM locker 4 years ago, so $250 for a complete LC80 axle was a steal which I could not pass. My wife does not agree with this point of view but who cares.

I love that axle, especially since it is a toyota one. Check over at Pirate4x4 i know some guy was putting fj80 axles under is 84-88 truck. Are you going to change up the suspension any? What is going to happen with the front axle, is it going to swapped for the 80 sereies or are you going to keep what you have.post pics of the process please?

My front SAS is done quit some time ago. I used a LC 70 series front axle, similar to the FJ80 but with smaller track and smaller axlehousing. Same axlestyle as the 85 solid axles.
It has the high pinion 8" diff, 4.88 gears and an ARB.
So i'm close to running a comlete LC setup.

I'll be in your neck of the woods in the beginning of December. I've to work for two weeks in Deventer. The weekends will be spend in Dronten. That's where I grew up, and my friends still live.
Is it hard to get customized vehicles through inspection (apk), or don't the fuss too much?
My wive and I have been talking about moving back to Holland, and I was debating if I should bring my '97 4runner. It has the 3.4L V6. What do you pay for roadtax?

It kinda depends on how you customize your vehicle. And were yo go to get it approved. Most know nothing about 4Runners since they are rare over here. So they never gave me any problems with all my stuff: SAS, 7M-GE etc.
The road tax is a killer over here, as is gas. I pay for my gas 4Runner something about $600 every 3 months. And gas is 1.2 Euro a liter which is about 4 times as much as where you are. That's what I calculated in february this year when I was in Maine. And it will probably only get worse, not better.
You are thinking about moving back to Holland? Mmmh, I was contemplating the opposite.
