Just bought 2002 Sports Edition. Did I pay too much?
It's a black 2002 Sports Edition, SR5, 2WD, sun roof, roof rack, running boards, grey cloth, tow package and 24000 miles on it.
The only thing concerning me is the mileage.. it's about 12k over for it's model year.
I paid $20,750 for it plus taxes and fees.
Thoughts? Comments?
Thanks guys,
Alan

I have 57,000 miles on my 2001 with zero problems. If the guy took care of it and you do the same they will run forever. I don't know if you paid to much but I got mine $28,000 new.

Thanks for your input.
My wife and I actually traded in a 2003 Tahoe LT for this 4Runner. Although the Tahoe was a much better all around vehicle (strictly speaking from a daily driver stand point) the 4Runner is an absolutely fabulous vehicle.
I guess for $43000 the Tahoe had better be able to do some thing a little better though..
The only thing i really can't find are simple mods to improve daily drivability. Things like a strut tower brace, sub frame connectors, etc...
Also, is there anything i can do to limit the ammount of travel in the drive shaft? With my hand on the shifter (it's an auto) you can feel it move no less than an inch when you give it some gas. That can't be lending itself to better efficiency. Do you think swapping the engine and tranny mounts with some polyurethane ones will help?
Thanks again,
Alan

Thats's a good price. I traded my 2002 in for the 03. It has now been sold by their used car dept. They had a sticker on it for 29,500. It had 32000 miles on it!
Hood scoop, nothing you can do to make that thing be functional. Best just to leave it alone! You could supercharge though!

Thanks again guys.
Is there anything i can do to steady the ride on the freeway? It get's an annoying vibration when riding on a rough stretch of pavement. It's almost like the back is twisting in a different direction than the front. It makes the ride pretty unpleasant.
Honestly, this truck will probably NEVER see offroad duty. It's only 2WD and i'm not really into the off road scene.
How much would a supercharger cost and where can i get one? I'm getting ready to put a Vortech Blower on my Cobra so it'd be cool to have two blown vehicles.

You might try new shocks for a better highway ride. Bilstein makes a good one.
As for the supercharger, it is about 3K - but I've seen them on sale sometimes (check www.toyotaparts4u.com).
I don't think you over paid, Toyotas really hold their value.

I'm king of curious as to what the install would entail.
