ideas needed for adding extra switches

i've got 2 switches for auxilliary lights and am figuring out where to mount them in my 92 pickup. i've thought about using the space under the cd deck, but i would need some sort of mounting bracket for the switches. the other option is cutting the dash area to the left of the steering wheel, but that scares me a bit. Ideas/input?

yea use the empty slots.....that what they were made for. those painless boxes are nice but are probably pricy and could be made easily and much cheaper with the led switches and everything

haha oops....well i guess a trip to radioshack is in order to pick up a project box and some switches...and some double stick tape to stick it somewhere convient...i dont want to see any duct taped switches anywhere...altough that would be nice for an ultra convient switch

I have insalled switches in both locations, under the deck, and to the left of the searing wheel. You could mount a set of lit togles in lexan under the deck. That usually looks cool.

I say drill some holes left of the steering wheel. Worst come to worst, you will have some new air vents . It shouldn't be to hard at all, just gotta get the nerve. does your truck have a clock? If not then you could mount some switches in there. Thats what I did. Ill snap a pic for ya tomorrow.

You could do something like this under the deck...wouldn't be too hard just cut a piece of plastic to fit then drill holes in it.

Going through the EXACT delema at the moment!!!!!!! So far I have pulled the lower dash and there is very little room behind that panel to the left(I have air and the duct runs behind there as well as the support for the steering column) Best you can do is 1 maybe 2 above the clutch start and the dimmer switch. I have an eLocker and the switch for that is below the 4way flasher switch. I found the locker control switch from a FJ80 has a very shallow mounting depth...........SO far 1 switch above the clutch switch, the FJ80 locker switch next to that and *BAM* 3 switches taken care of.(yes I said 3,,the FJ80 switch has provisions for RR and RR/FR so when I add the ARB to the front I'll be set)

Now my next project.....Owned a Subi once and I remembered it had the 4way flasher switch on top of the steering column.....ok so now I have to go to the J/Y. once thats done it will open 2 holes for switches. If I use DPDT switches in those holes I figure I can control up to 4 sets of lights w/ 2 switches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The one over the clutch switch I'll use to "arm" my winch. Should look very clean when done.

*edit* I'm planning to use the space under the HU for my 2m radio. so no switch pannel can go there.

Jake.
