I was thinking of doing this....
Here is a link to the Pro Comp ES3000 Shocks with a free steering stabalizer. Do you think it's a good deal? With the SS, do I need anything else or should they provide everything I need?
One thing I am really concerned about is the stiffness of these shocks. I won't be able to afford a suspension lift for a very long time, but I want some shocks that are softer than stock, because I go on rough trails all the time (potholes, freakin' washboards!!!!!!) and I'd love something to absorb some of the bumpy, rough ride. Would these shocks help? I'd go for the Rancho 9000s that are adjustable but I'm on a budget and this seems like a good deal. What do you think? Please help! i wouldn't go softer than stock... you'd bottom out, or otherwise have a very bouncy ride.

It is a good deal but not for the type of driving that you do. Spend the extra money and get either Bilstiens or the Ranchos. You won't be dissapointed.
Just reread your post, you do not want softer shocks, you want firmer shocks to absorb the bumps. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. I thought softer shocks would make more sense ... but I makes sense too if I look at it your way. Well, are these shocks not going to work for me? I've heard people say that Rancho's suck... and Bilstiens are expensive. I'm on a pretty tight budget. I've heard very good things about the ProComp adjustable shocks though... maybe those are what I need. What you think?

I have the rancho 5000's which I have been very happy with and they run about $40 each. You might find them cheaper on the internet. Don't really know anything about the procomp adjuctables. sorry.

ranchos are decent -- but the bilsteins kick ass. I say save up the extra dough and go for the bils.

Yes I do like them, I replaced them right after I bought the truck. I run a washboard, dirt and gravel, road every three months at 60mph, short cut to my wifes doctor, and even though they are 8 years old, the cd player never skips a beat. For the money, they can't be beat.

I just bought ES3000 for my front end only. I needed them for the ball joint spacers. I also got the SS, but I dont have them installed yet so I have no opinion except the price is right.

Do you have a 4runner or pickup? If a pickup do you have a shell or something heavy in the rear?
I have the 5000's and its a very stiff ride, but I don't have anything in the rear of my truck. When I go and pick up lumber and things of that nature, the extra weight really does wonders for the ride (in a good way).
