how long for the suspension to settle?

So i measured my 4runner yesterday and it was about a half inch lower than i set it to last (on the driver side), so i cranked both coilovers, driver side by 1/4", and pass side by 1/8", it yielded about 1" of lift on each side. Drove to work and back 30miles, and its still the same. i want to get it aligned but i want the suspension fully settle first. So, How long does it take?

I'm going through the same thing! I hate driving with the steering wheel crooked, but I don't want to waste the money on an alignment until I know the SAW's are completely settled.

On another note...How much are you compensating side to side on your adjustments? My driver side seems to need a lot more cranking than my passenger side does. I know that there should be some difference, but my driver side seems to need A LOT more cranking than the passenger side.

Here are some measurements that I have just taken. Measurements taken are of exposed threads as shown in this pic:

Driver Side: 3 1/8"
Pass Side: 2 5/8"

And my passenger side is currently sitting 3/8" higher than the driver side. Make any sense to you? Sorry for going OT, I probably should have just PM'd you.

woah dude 3"s!!!! How are your cv angles? post a pic.

Ya i thought i had way too much on the driver side so i cranked the pass side as well but it seemed to lift the front way too much, so i might adjust it again tonite back to where it was, but my coilovers right now are at:

2 3/8" driver
2" pass

and now the pass side is 1/4" taller, and im having a terrible time finding that sweet spot.

yeah my coilovers also need to be cranked unevenly to acheive proper ride height on the driver side. Right now i have them both even and its squatting like 2 inches on that side, however that is also due to several problems with the rear end.

regardless i feel your pain with the coilovers being unevern those factory rear leafs begin to sag much more on the driver side also because they are so flimsy

Don't forget that one of the stock springs is longer than the other depending on which side. That might be the problem with "uneven" cranking on each side.

Me too.

My CV angles don't seem to be too severe as it sits. The tops of the boots aren't touching. I'll get some pics tomorrow.

BTW, I finally got some new axles to put in. Hopefully I'll get some time to install them this weekend.

A closer look shows that the furthest out fin is touching, but none of the other ones. Here are the pics:

thats really weird with such a harsh angle i would think the fins would be touching but they're not...never seen that before. Do you get any vibrations on the highway with those angles?

I do get some vibrations on the highway but I don't think it's from the CV angles, I would attribute it more to the fact that the boots are completely blown and have no grease left in them.

Mine took about a month I think. Basically, by the time you've stopped wondering how long it will take to settle, they will have done so.

I read that flexing them out on obstacles will help.
