Got my Deck plate mod

Hey all, I finally installed by deckplate mod. While I was doing the mod, I found some tips that might help improve the modification process. First of all, check out the mod pictures on my site. I used a plastic screen from a craft store. It the stuff people neat on. Only 23 cents each for all different shapes. Of course I got the round one. I cut it to fit in the deck plate hole and held it in place with tie straps. Just drill some hole on the side where is can thread the tie straps in and attach it to the plastic screen. Also instead of silicon, I use a rubber gasket it to make it watertight. Therefore no waiting time for silicone to dry. When I cut the air box with a dremel, there was lots of little plastic left on the cut edges. To make sure the debris don't go in to my filter, I sanded the edges and burn/melt them with a lighter or torch. When you put high heat to the cut edges, the plastic smooths out nicely. This way you don't have to sand it too much and gets rid of all the little debris of the edges. Then, I use stainless steel bolt and nylon locking nuts to secure the deckplats. I use 1" bolts so I have enough room to put the nut on. Hope this helps.

Looks real clean! My deckplate has been sitting in the garage for some time now. I like the idea of the screen.

Thanks for the info.

Don't you think the screen you have on there might be a bit restrictive? If I were you, I would maybe try some regular screen from say a screen door. Just a suggestion. Very clean install, good job!
