would you like to sign up for sams club credit?

did they thank you by name? they better have...

my dream would make it only turn on when the key is in ACC or ON. Also, run two power outlets to the front of the car somewhere. I dont know... maybe one outside

I found a 375 Watt one at Sears for $49. Didn't buy it but not a bad deal I thought.

Just got done mounting the unit.
Pic one shows the empty hole behind the wood/carpet panel that goes on the sides in the back.
I had a local stereo shop whip these up for me a few years ago as the stock speaker panels back there were busted.

Pic two shows the plain carpet panel on the passenger side behind the Power Tank.

Pic three shows the unit mounted to the frame.

Pic four is rather dark

Pic 5 is a close up of the unit in place.

All that is left to do is wire it up to my stereo distribution block.
I'll do a write-up on it once I am totaly done with it.

I want to thank Jalaber for once again making my wallet lighter for the idea here, and to Jason who found this unit at Sam's Club.

Hey guys, just make sure your wires and fuses are up to the task. 800W at 12V is 67 amps. I know 800w is a spike, but if your fuses are only 30 amps then you'll be blowing fuses left and right. The instructions that came with my inverter said it's better to use a short 12V wire to the inverter and then use extension cords for the 110v side.

That's what I did, I've got my inverter under the seat and have 1 extension cord to the passenger's feet and 1 ext cord out to the back where the storage compartments are.

Anyways, just an FYI.

like this?

This was on my '87 and I don't think I'll do that to the '94...Too lazy.

Yeahhhhhhh, I thought I had seen that pic before.
I think Chris Geiger may have done that also.

Looks like a lot of work, and I am to lazy to gut this thing and do that to it.

On a side note, the book that came with this said if you hard wire it like I am going to be doing, to use 10 gauge cable.
The 8 gauge I have is even beefier, so I'm OK.

They also said to use at least a 40 amp fuse, and I got a 50.
Should be well protected, plus the 4 gauge wire that supplies power to the distribution box is protected via 100 amp circuit breaker up by the battery.

Looks great. I think I'll keep mine under the pass front seat for a while before I permanantly mount it though.

Here is a cool chart that recommends what you can run with the different wattage inverters. The inverter i purchased is the 300 watt PV300.

Another deal for you guys. If the 300 watt inverter is too much for you at $18 and you can live with a 140 watt version do this deal. Goto CC with a printout of this page get the PV140 and have them price match it to the $29.49 price. Mail in the $30 rebate and your 140 watt inverter is FREE! The 140 W is fine to charge your laptop and digi cam on an overnight wheeling trip.

For those of you who missed this deal last time, the rebate is back...Valid purchase dates 03/25/03 and 05/31/03 qualify for a $25 rebate.

I already received my $30 rebate from the initial deal.

Guys,

I went to Sam's Club b/c I wanted a cheap hotdog so I walked in and bought one of the gay-colored inverters. I must say the power inverter does look like something out of Miami Vice. I may paint the rest of the rainbow colored stripes on it to complete the theme.

...but can you deny for mere buck fiddy, the extreme mouth-watering satisfaction?!?!?

Oh wait, you work there. You've probably had your fill.
