fixing leaky clutch master/slave cylinders - what parts do I need?
I have a small leak in my clutch slave cylinder (98 Taco, V6, 4x4), but figure I may as well rehab or replace the master while I'm at it. I've searched and found some good info on the 'how-to' part. My question is, what parts do I need? A search on my parts source found both the master and slave cylinders, plus repair kits for each:
http://www.trademotion.com/parts/199...AULIC%20SYSTEM
So do I just need the repair kits, or the whole shootin' match? Am I correct in thinking the cylinder body doesn't need to be replaced unless it's scratched up or something? Would like to know before ordering as there is a significant price difference. Thanks!

About the only time I would rebuild one was out in the woods and I needed to get home.
I tried to rebuild them over the years most did not last long at all.
Buy new buy Aisin
be done with it for another 10 years at least
You only need one small nick to have one leaking again.

I have rebuilt master and slave cylinders on many vehicles and have never had a problem. The key item to watch for is rust or pitting in the bore. Run a fine cylinder hone in the bore to clean it up. Visually inspect the bore surface for any defects. You are looking for a smooth even surface finish after honing. If you find corrosion or pits then just buy a new part. If all is good then pick up a repair kit at Toyota.
