Fiamm Horn Installation Problem

Alright guys, I hope you can help me out with this. I bought the high and low note Fiamm Freeway Blaster horns a couple of weeks ago and I just got around to installing them today. I followed the simple directions to a T, and when I hit the horn for the first time, only the high note horn sounded. I checked all the connections out and still nothing. I thought that I had a defective horn, so I took it back to Advance and got a new low note. Still nothing. I then put the high note on the passenger side and the low note on the driver's side and still nothing. I have no earthly idea why this low note horn won't work. Someone please help me out. Later.

Make sure both are grounded well. Does one have two terminals and the other only one? The one with only one grounds through the mounting hardware I think.

I followed the instructions just like it said. The driver's side horn had two wires. Both of these are hooked to the Fiaam horn. The passenger side horn had one wire. It is connected to the Fiamm horn and the ground jumper is installed on the other prong. I originally had the high not on the driver's side and it honked there and the low note would note sound on the passenger's side. So I swapped them. Now the high note honks on the passenger side and the low note is on the driver's side, but it won't do anything. I know the wire on the driver's side is hot because I can hook the wire to the prong on either of the stock horns and it will work. I have no idea what's going on. I'm gonna call Fiamm tomorrow.

I wired mine like this.

Its not complete. I left out the button and fuse. The button is on the line between the relay and ground. The 1 prong horn grounds through the mounting hardware. The 2 prong horn grounds through the 1 prong.

Toyota horns are grounded at the button. At least my '87 is. A lot could have changed in those 13 years. I'm not sure if '01 horns are neg or pos at the button.

Oh, I guess you are adding this to your factory system. I used it to replace my stock junk. I've probably caused more confusion than answers, sorry.

Sounds like you might have a bad horn. It is hard to know from the above writing, but...
Did you change the horns from Pass to Drivers side and the same horn (high note)worked on both sides, and the other horn (low note) won't work on either? If that is the case, then you have a bad low note horn, even if they have replaced it.

I emailed Fiamm this morning and one of their tech reps suggested that I try hooking the horn straight to the battery first bolted to the car, and then unbolted if it didn't work the other way. Well, I wired it directly to the battery with it bolted on and it yelled out pretty loud. What in the world is causing it not to work when hooked up the other way? I don't get it.

Well, I figured it out. Don't ask me why I had to do it this way, but they are working. I read on a previous post that you had to use the ground jumper on both horns. I figured out which prong on the driver's horn was ground and hooked the ground jumper up to it, as well as the stock wire. On the other side of the driver's horn, I connected the stock wire, and ran a wire over to the passenger side horn positive terminal. Bingo! They work and sound awesome. This forum is great!!

That is the best, cheapest mod to a "meep meep" 4Runner IMHO.
