Few questions on DIY front brakes....

Been a while since I have done front brakes so I am a bit rusty on a few things:

1. I know I apply the anti-squeal stuff to the rear of the pad to shim but cannot remember if I should apply it to the rear of shim to piston contact area?

2. Also where should I apply the caliper grease?

BTW: This is what I ordered from TireRack.com; Brembo flat rotors with Hawk SUV\Truck pads. When I ordered them early this morning I must have been real tired as I ordered TWO of the pad sets. TireRack called me and asked "are you sure you want TWO boxes?" Doh!! Great place to order from, they could have easily just sent out everything and I would have had to go through the hassle of returning one box.

You really don't need to apply anti-squeal to the pads if your shims are in good shape as they do the same job as the anti-squeal but it wont hurt anything if you do. You just may not be able to remove the shims when it comes time for your next brake job. Also, there is no need for caliper grease as the calipers are of a "fixed" design and don't move because you have pistons on both sides of the caliper.

ive tried this but i quit doin it because i see it serves no purpose when it gets smeared off when puttin on the caliper.

the caliper grease is to be applied at the rail/track(whatever ppl call them??). this should be clean and apply at every brake change.
