Factory E-LOCKER PROBLEM

I have the Grey wire mod on my 2000 taco and over the weekend it snowed up here in wisconsin pretty good, so i used my locker for a little fun and now the darn thing won't turn off!

Any ideas would be Great!!!

Joe

put it in 2wd then put it in reverse back up and turn the front wheels left to right sometimes that will do it.+

Have you tried moving in reverse or turning the wheel just a little bit? That usually does it for me. Worst case, just undo the grey wire mod....you sure you got the right wire, if it worked fine before you did the mod, and now its jacked up, I'd start there.

No that's weird but if you just need to get it unlocked you can manually unlock it.

Anyone know how to manually unlock it? I crawled under there and had my ol' lady turn the locker on and off. when she engaged the locker (which is already locked) i could hear it trying to engage continously. What do i have to do to unlock it? This is the first time i have had a problem since i did the grey wire mod like 2 yrs ago. I have been driving around for 3-4 weeks with the rear locker locked and it is really annoying and hell on the tires!

you have to pull the actuator off of the housing and then slide the gear over to the unlock position and then put the actuator back on so that it stays unlocked.

My E-locker was non-functional a few weeks ago. I could hear the electric motor turning the worm gear inside, but nothing was engaging. If you can hear the motor turning, then it can easily be fixed.

The quick fix is to remove the actuator/motor assembly (make sure locker button is pressed in/on), remove the c-clip holding the gear on and stick the shaft in a vise and rotate it. This will free up the frozen shaft, and may take some force. Spray some penetrating lube on the shaft/body seal to help it out.

To really service the motor, you need to remove the 2 8mm bolts that hold it together and grease everything. Search around on TTORA for a detailed write up...
