Engine removal and installation help!
#21
Hello,
Now we are getting somewhere.
Mine 1994 4runner is an automatic.
Do I have to take off the starter bolts?
Where is the best place to find a rebuilt motor?
Has anyone ever bought one of the NAPA motors?
Thanks

I bought my rebuilt engine from this place. It wasn't cheap but I got a GREAT warranty. http://www.powerpro2000.com/

Todays pics. 3-10-04
The engine and trans have been pulled. Now we need to disconnect the trans from the engine.
The trans looks like it's bleeding...
The trans is off now...
I tried to get a picture of all the water and oil coming out. You should have seen how much water was in this thing. This is AFTER all the fluids had been drained. :pat:
The engine was dropped on it's way out. Check out the oil pan.
The oil pan was removed. It was so tore up, I don't even know how to explain it. I'll let the pictures do the talkin.
The last picture of the day was water coming out of the oil filter. We had to bust holes through it to get it out.
I'll post a link later to the full size images. I've had a long day and I am far too tired to post them now. LATER!

Glad it is going back together well for ya.

Today I am going to car toys to pick up some underhood dynamat. I figure I should do some sound dampening while the engine is out.
I needed a fuel enjector for my truck cause one of the plastics caps was broken. I went to the stealership yesterday and they wanted $162.00!!! for one fuel injector!!!! I stopped by the junk yard today and picked one up for $25.00... Junk yards are great! More pics will be posted tonight.

I would love to tell you that I am. But I am not, after this is done we are doing an SAS and I would have to do some custome work to the headers that I just don't feel like doing right now. They will go on eventually.

Broken plastic injector cap
Designsbyme - You say you busted the plastic cap off an injector and replaced it. What happens if you run with an injector broken that way? I broke one and just plugged it back in.

I'm not 100% sure what it may do, I asked the stealership and they said it would clog my injectors and I would have to get all new ones. They then told me the replacement part would be $162.00. I went to a salvage yard and picked one up for $25.00. I would recomend you do the same. Better to be safe than sorry. All new injectors would be close to $800.00.

Todays news. We were trying to adjust the timing belt today and the new engine wouldn't turn. :wtf: After some trial and error, and a frustration shake of the engine, we found that there is a bolt in the engine. Somehow we think it got droped in before we got the fuel enjection systeme on. So tomorrow we get to take all that off, flip the engine and try to get it out. :pat: Wish me luck!
