Ebay supercharger

I have been flirting w/ the idea of a supercharger for quite some time now and decided to bid on one on e-bay Sunday.
Long story short, I bid $1380.00 and was outbid and the auction ended (@$1570). Now I have received a second chance offer for my original bid.

Do you think I should jump on it? I don't really have the cash to buy it right now, but could swing it w/ my Paypal credit account.

What do you guys think?? I really don't want to get burned on something I really didn't need anyway!

Any suggestions?

TIA

Matthew

Get it, get it, get it. This is coming from someone to cheap to do this mod. It just scares the crap out of me all the other things that you need to do to get it working "right."

Ask midiwall or TRDOLMAN. They seem to know a ton about the s/c for our 3rd gens.

I got mine used from a local guy for $700, with 2k on it...it was a steal!! I'm running with no fuel mods besides the one that raises fuel pressure with the RPMs. But URD is on the top of mods!! Post up that link....let's see if it looks real!

Be sure to check te guys feedback and prior sells before purchasing. It sounds like he had a friend bid on it to get it to the price he wanted and then claims the winning bidder backed out and now he is offering it to you. I could be wrong but I have seen it done like that before.

It's still a good price as long as the shipping isn't too much. Just do a little research before you commit to buy.

Post the link and we'll take a look.....be very careful with second chance offers.
They can often be a scam or someone trying to go outside the ebay system.

1. save up your money and pay cash. don't buy a "toy" on credit unless you can pay it off ASAP.

2. wait for a better buy. that's a decent price, but be weary since it's a "second chance offer".

the one that i picked up to play with had about 10k on it and came with a 7th injector and a gauge pod for $1500. i sold the 7th and gauge pod for $950 and then used the charger for a while and eventually sold it for about $1400 by itself.

also, there's much more to it than just the charger. as a minimum i'd recommend a split second with cooler plugs - and really you should have at least a 7th injector. if you were going to spend that much on a 7th, you might as well just get the URD kit. that's a grand on top of the SC cost. also, if you have the URD or a tuned 7th kit, then you should consider a valve body upgrade - that's another $500. lastly, i initially didn't ping with 93 and no controller, but later on, i could force it to with a load and a high-speed - low RPM situation. gas prices suck now, but just wait until this summer if you think it's expensive now. summer travel, a new hurrican season, and unrest in the middle east - i think we just might see $4 gas this summer if things go wrong.

YEUP.

I'd be careful.. The S/C is awesome, the price is "right", but it may be too good of a deal. Can you give us the old auction #?

And of course, like Andy pointed out, a BUNCH of us is gonna get on your case to not install it without fuel mods.

there are 2 bids that are 150+ more than your bid. contact the seller for some real-time pics of the charger that he has with his email address written on a piece of paper in the pic to prove he has it. you should also consider contacting the high bidder and ask why they backed out.

One thing that "worries" me... The 2nd chance offer will come into play when the winner flakes. But, you're the 3rd person in line, so that means that "duke20000_0" at $1550 flaked as well - odd. Also, he's sold others for $1500+, so why not just relist this instead of accepting your $1380 which is $200ish less than what he's been getting?

{grumble} {grumble} :~

and the tranny mods...

I agree, something is a bit wierd there unless he is moving alot of them (which his feedback doesn't indicate he is). I would definately ask for some pics too.

Also Andy's deal is definately not the norm, very few people buy a supercharger and 7th injector, use it, then turn around and sell it for $850 profit!

Well as it turns out I decided to e-mail the seller and ask a few questions and this is the response that I got.

Question from shocken0

Activity with shocken0 (last 90 days):
- I am currently bidding on 0 of their items
- shocken0 is currently bidding on 0 of my items
- We have traded 0 items
- I did not win 1 of their listings

So maybe this is a learning experience for everyone.

ALWAYS CHECK INTO SOMETHING BEFORE JUMPING THE GUN!!!

I figured that it was probably a scam since dealer cost is around $1800 IIRC.
Now back to your regularly scheduled program (So I can finish moving).

**edit**
Should I report this to E-bay or just go about my business?

Ahhh, so now we're thinking that the 2nd chance was a fake with spoofed headers? That'd make more sense.
