Are Duralast Rotors okay? I need to get them replaced tomorrow.

Hello,

I have a 99 4Runner with 202,000 miles on it. I just failed my state inspection due to the truck not stopping within the 2 feet. The guy said the pedal feels like there is a block stuck under it towards the bottom (I dont feel it but whatever). Hes trying to tell me its probably the brake booster. However, I know the rotors are warped and the truck shakes when breaking. A mechanic a few months ago told me the pads are fine, just the rotors are warped and that as long as I don't mind the shaking its technically safe to stop.

So I want to go ahead and at least replace the rotors and maybe the brake pads. I go out of town all next week and my state inspection runs out this month. I would like to get this taken care of tomorrow. Autozone only carries the Duralast brand. The dealership has rotors for $120 a peice- that seems high.

Are Duralast alright to use? I searched but could only find three threads referencing duralast and rotor.

I have duralasts on my car (not my 4runner). They have been there for a couple years and have been fine, and I drive the thing like a racecar.

The Duralast pad/rotors mesh well together. I do not have them on the 4 runner, but have used them (ceramic pads) with good success. Save the $$$ to hunt the yards for a used brake booster...

Dont waste your money on the ceramic....get the cheapest pads that have a lifetime warranty....

Then you are encouraged to take a wheel off every 6 months and take a look at your brakes....then you can keep an eye on stuff down there instead of not lkooing there for a few years. When the pads to get worn....you get new ones for free....

If they are both warrantied for life.....that means you get free ones when they wear out......

I just did the brakes on my 99...turned the rotors got the like 15 dollar pads.
work great.

I just dont see why I would pay 30 more dollars for pads that will wear out just the same.

Up to you...either will work....

Its like do you want quited toiletpaper....or the generic stuff. Both work...but one may feel a litle nicer...ya know?

There is a difference in the pads , some stop a hell of a lot better than others and don't squel and throw out as much dang brake dust . I never use cheap brake parts as brakes are a very important part of a car . Spend the money and do it right when it comes to that .

Im not trying to be cheap...just trying to find the right mix of readily available product. Went over to my friends house who works for Toyota in the service department. He told me just to get the Duralast rotors and buy the pads from Toyota. That is probably what I will end up doing.

So with the help of a friend, I learned to change brakes. We replaced the rotors and put on Wagner Ceramic Pads. Car stopped great and no more incredible shaking when breaking. Also passed inspection!
