I thought the 2.7 switched over to direct ignition a few years ago, like before 99. So, why does that 99 have a distributor? You may want to check with Schafer and see if he knows when they switched over to direct ignition. That is important to know as you may have a junk yard engine in there.

I can't tell where wire # 1 is going...looks disconnected or it's way in front of the others. If it's a dist. cap, it looks odd. My # 1&2 wires go to the front DI block...

Power is fine, could use more low end torque which I'm sure the 5 speed will compensate some. Drove my buddys '92 Runner today. Mine feels stronger. That radiator looks aftermarket. I have 106K on my '99 Runner. I don't off road which explains why my motor looks pretty clean, plus I'm an anal detailer.

Hey Javin, like I said, I don't off road so dust is my only problem. I usually mist some degreaser over everything, let it sit, and carefully rinse off. I use compressed air to blow the water off and use a waterbased dressing (for interiors) as I have'nt found that C2D stuff (engine detailer) everyone raves about. This is my first 'new' truck, so I'm always cleaning the fenderwells and undercarriage, and shoot the glossy tire dressing to keep the black stuff showroom fresh. For a 106K truck, I know mine looks better than some '03 trucks with a few K's on 'em. I am anal after all... and that's squeeky clean.

Hi, I am looking at this 99 4Runner that I might purchase. It has a 4 cyclinder engine and is 5speed. Does the engine bay look right? To me, it doesnt look straight for some reason, but maybe thats how its supposed to be? Thanks in advance.
