Do I have Keyless?

Do I have Keyless?
Hi all,
Just purchased a 2000 4Runner and I have a question about the Keyless. My truck didn't come with any remotes. However, it has leather etc., so I assumed that maybe the remote(s) were lost somewhere between the original owner and myself.
So, I got a remote to try out... Here is what happens...
I follow the programming instructions that I found through searching these forums. When I get to the point where I hold the two buttons together for a second, and then press the unlock button, the door locks automatically cycle. However, the remote will not function. The intersting part is that the door locks do not cycle until I press the button on the remote. This tells me that he truck is picking up the signal from the fob.
My question is: Does this mean that I have Keyless? Or do all the trucks come with the receiver for the Fob, and you have to pay extra for the module controlling the locks?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I just went through the exact same scenerio. I also have a 2000 SR5, leather etc, no remotes. I bought 2 remotes of e-bay and voila...all is well.
There is a step to the instructions that you didn't mention doing. After the door locks with the remote during your programming, be sure to close all doors and then insert and remove the key into the ignition and that should be all you have to do.
The instructions on the forum vary a bit when it comes to the end, but you will definitely need to do as I mentioned or it will not work.
Let us know how you make out.
Cheers!!

Hijack! - How do I know if I have the keyless module and stuff? I have a 2000 4Runner SR5 with power locks and windows - no leather though. How can I be sure that I have keyless and just need the remotes?

As for the other thread, that is what I tried a number of times and it didn't work. Marty's addition worked the first time I tried it!

You need the Toyota remote with the rear window button. It has 4 buttons including panic. FCC ID HYQ1512Y
I would try buying a remote on ebay and see what happens. If it doesn't work, sell it back on ebay.
Hope this helps.

According to the website above if you have power lock, you have the power package which includes:
Power Package
Includes power windows, door locks and
mirrors (color-keyed on SR5 and Limited),
sun visor with pocket and mirror (N/A on
Base grade), power antenna, keyless entry
with back window remote operation
(standard on Limited, N/A on base models)
I'm sure you have it.

open drivers side door
stick the key in the ignition then pull it out
lock and unlock the door 5 times (thats 10 times that you have to press the button) It should be completed with door unlocked.
shut and then open the door
lock and unlock the door 5 times(thats 10 times that you have to press the button) It should be completed with door unlocked.
stick the key in the ignition and turn to on then off then on then off
pull the key out of the ignition
you should hear the door locks go clunk clunk
press the two top buttons on the remote for 1 second
then press the unlock button by itself for 1 second. Now for the second remote,
press the two top buttons on the remote for 1 second,
then press the unlock button by itself for 1 second. After you have completed the program of both remotes, put the key in the ignition and pull it out. Your remotes are now programmed.
