And if you don't run your A/C somewhat regularly you can build up MILDEW in the A/C lines which will really suck when you need your first blast of cold air come Summer time. Plus it's kinda unhealthy. So it's good that your vehicle runs the A/C to defrost.

The air is colder while recirculating the inside air. Instead of the A/C trying to cool 100 degree outside air, its recirculating the 70 defree inside air.

Plus it will help keep bad smells outside, but for the best effiency using the recirculating feature is always best.

yep... like everyone's saying, AC helps to defog by drying the air... my 92 Jetta turns on the AC when you go to defrost... adn there's no off switch, it just uses the AC for Defrost/fog permanently.
