Coils vs. Coil Spacers

Im in kind of a tough situation here... i already have some 2-5/8" Spacers for the rear of my 4runner... but my friend told me bad things about it..

I was just wondering if it is worth buying new coils (Spending $150 more than the spacers that I have) and getting the same kind of lift that way.. or should I just keep the spacers and spend my money elsewhere?

Has anyone had bad experiences with spacers.. or will I get pretty much the same results either way??

Thanks,
Dan

I see you have Downey coils in your list of things to add.
I'd part with the spacers and get the Downeys which are tried & true on this and many other Toyota forums.

I run 'em, and I'm very happy with them.
I would think a spacer would "preload" your stock coils and make the ride worse.

Spacers on the rear of a 2nd Gen do not preload the spring. That only occurs when the spring is acting in a fixed space which the coil then reduces putting a preload on it.

I added a reply to ODW too.

If you are just looking to get rid of sag, get a pair of short side cruiser coils after you sell the spacers and you will end up ahead of the game cash wise.

When I wheeled long shocks with spacers, they would go boing when they reseated. This is because the spacers could get 4 to 6 inches off the seat.
