Clutch Problem? 1997 Toyota 4 Runner - Please help!

3.4 V 6 5 Speed 297K miles

Clutch, pressure plate, re-surfaced flywheel was changed just under 1 year ago and has worked perfect.

Truck still shifts perfectly but over the course of the last few weeks there has been occasional slippage of the clutch. Most times the truck drives perfect, no problem at all.

This seems to have happened more so after being in stop and go traffic.

* A couple months ago slave cylinder was replaced as it got stuck, hung up. Replaced the slave cylinder and no problems with it hanging up since - but recently have developed the slipping.

Think it is a faulty slave? master (which is original)? or pressure plate and disk? clutch fluid level was down a little, added some last 2 weeks ago, but slipped again this morning.

I do take it very easy on the truck, it hasnt been in any tough situations since the clutch was replaced last summer - but maybe it is faulty?

Slipping is usually caused by the disc or pressure plate. A bad master would cause problems shifting.

a bad master cylinder would prevent the car from going into gear, that is my experience anyways.

that is what I thought....just odd that it is so intermittent

I was beating on it at lunch, trying to get to slip but now it is fine?

dropping it off at my fathers friends shop tomorrow night, I have too many other projects..such as my Camaro, to spend time working on the truck
