yea the next thing you know people are gonna start carrying around dental floss and try to steal emblems now.

its to bad that they discontinued them. they probably cost a crap load anyway to get from the dealer.

Trust me they do.

I was lucky enough to get the "friend discount" when I bought mine, but for the average joe that walks in to purchase the full set, it's going to cost him $300. The front emblem alone list for $90.

I remember years ago a consumer body did a study in the UK on the high costs manufacturers charge for parts. The test case was a Ford Sierra engine. They calculated out on the individual components, and found out it was more expensive than to buy the complete car new.

if i had black pearl emblems, i think i'd get out the JB Weld for added security. good thing i'm almost all de-emblem-ized, and they are chrome anyway

a couple years ago i took the toyota symbol from my '98 grille that was satoshized, flattened it out with a heat gun so it had the right contour for my '91 celica, and i took some left over VHT Nite Shades spray tint and made a decent black pearl emblem out of it. i guess if you are in a pinch you could do that, wasn't perfect and i don't know how long it lasted since i sold it a couple weeks later; but it's an idea since i hear the stuff that Bob used in the black pearl write-up is no longer available.

or, you could stick some razor blade edges on all sides of your emblems so when some one takes the dental floss or fishing line to them it snaps it on every direction they try.

Wow never realized that I found a real limited emblem set. I will definitely go back out to see if the fender is still installed with the antenna. $300 ??!!
I just may have to hang on to these, decide if I want to put them on and then figure out a permanent way to mount them after all.

I read somewhere that the paint Bob used is no longer available. Pity!

Yep, that was posted by me. Testors #1813 and 1814 are discontinued, and they have no number that superscedes it.

I tried a "Transparent window tint" with a Pearl clear coat, but the results were less than impressive.
