Bg 44k

Well after switching to 285's and getting a miserable 13.7 MPG, I got a can. This last tank I got 15.6 MPG. 2 more miles per gallon! It works...better than Seafoam anyway.

What is Bg 44k?

Sorry I'm not informed in with all the snake oil and which-craft that supposedly gets better mileage, and before anyone gets all defensive (not the specifically you nate08, just in general, as some people get thier feelings hurt pretty easily) I just don't like wasting money or pouring stuff into random vacuum hoses. Do stuff like that kinda scares me, as my truck is a 3.0. So I am just waiting for a headgasket/burnt valve/water pump to arise and then I'll get to spend lots of money woo-hoo!

But you have got my attention with mileage gains, so give me low-down or what/where/who/how/why/why not/whatever

Oh, and what size (inches) is a 285? just curious

No, it's really good. Not made for better milage though. It cleans out the fuel injectors. Just like techron you find at the auto store.

Good stuff. Really does the job.

Do you put it in the tank or in the vacuum lines like the seafoam stuff?

Where do you get it at?

BG44k is the real deal. It's very expensive though, like $22 a can. At Advance Auto Parts stores they sell it but you have to ask for it at the counter...they've seen too many cans sprout feet and walk off. FYI they sell this stuff at the Toyota $tealership I go to for parts and a tech there said they actually use this stuff on all their used vehicles before sale. I get it probably more often than I need to, but I've heard from more than a few trustworthy mechanics that swear by this stuff. Their site has some very interesting before/after pics of valves and cylinders. I know that's advertising, but makes me convinced.

We use that stuff at work on the used cars that gt certified. It works pretty good.

you can also pour seafoam in the tank, not just in the vac hose. but this sounds like i need to try it

I take it that you guys are talking about the injector cleaner?

I'm pretty sure that I've got a ticking injector, and have been dreading replacing it (I've already got a spare set of injectors that I need to send off to get cleaned and balanced) do you think this might help that out?

Usually just short of 33". This differs slightly between companies.

Run a couple of BG44K-free tanks through and then see what your mileage looks like. Realistically, if you want better gas mileage...go back to stock size tires and take off the lift.

It does a great job but it's alot more money than Seafoam and it's hard to say if 1 can of BG44K is worth 3 cans of Seafoam. In most cases a motor that has been well taken care of doesn't need a BG44K treatment, the Seafoam will do fine. If you have some real pinging or misfire issues and a borescope finds your cylinders are just covered in carbon, then it would be worth the investment to run a few cans through.

I used it once a year in my modded turbo Eclipse for 8 years and it really kept things clean and I know since I removed the head for some maintenance and the piston tops were pretty clean and my injector flow was a proper 98% through bigger injectors at full throttle. I also use it once a year in my Runner so hopefully it's doing the same job.

Definetly worth the money and just put it in the tank.

Well, I will have to give it a shot I guess, I just can't find it for sale anywhere other than ebay, which I don't mind buying from, I would just rather know what the actual retail price is for the stuff before I shell out any money,

I looked on thier site, but all they have is links to places that are authorized to use thier stuff during services and what-not

Oh, and I looked at advance auto parts online, and I couldn't find it on there either, I think there is one in town, I just hate going there because IIRC they price just about everything higher than shucks or autozone, and the cust service sucked

yeah that and techron work well. i wouldnt mind paying 22$ every 10-20k miles or so. cheap maintenance. i use texaco w\techron and can tell a difference in about 4 tanks. no pinging and etc. when i use cheap gas like at a no name place and i go up a steep bank i can hear it ping but not with the 87 octane texaco with techron..

I've used BG44k in my 4Runner. I never noticed a difference. But, with proper maintenance - I think that is the idea.
