bed mounting question

To those of you with 4th gen pickups (i geuss the gen doesn't matter) and have things mounted on the inside side of the bed (such as a hi-lift, which is what I will be doing), how thick is the sidewall? Is it one layer of metal or two with some space between? I don't want to drill through the side to mount the hi-lift and have the bolt sticking out on the outside of the truck...

blkrunner you need to upload the picture to a hosting place such as photobucket and then link that URL, you can't host off your local computer like that

You are better off putting a rail between the tie-down hooks and mounting to that. Like this: http://community.webshots.com/photo/...42310107HVakZu

that bar looks pretty nice. when i have money I might shoot you a PM about it. I like that idea for the hi-lift and some lights and possibly even attachments for bikes.

However, the original question still needs to be answered because I plan on mounting two of those rubber fists (like I used for my maglite mount) on the side of the bed to hold a shovel. How deep can I go before it comes out of the exterior of the truck?
