Any unique body repairs as a result of killer body rust

So my 91 is starting to rust out behind the rear wheels, and for that matter infront of the rear wheels as well. I was wondering if anyone has done some cool body modifications to stop the effects of rust....

Any new body panels added...or just the fibreglass and bondo fixes?

Pics, and or links would help.

Cheers

Here is a link I have found for stuff that I will need i the near future

http://toyotafiberglass.com/4runner.htm

They have the metal inserts for the fenders and fiberglass endgates. They are in BC so the costs are reasonable

I'd like to see some ridiculous stuff....i've seen alot of p/u's with cool body work, different beds and such, but I haven't seen any 4runners with crazy stuff done. I'm drooling at those half doors....i dunno about getting fiberglass, that would make me fell less safe compared to metal.

The driver's side door was notorious for rotting out in my last vehicle. Apperently the guy installing the window gasket was methed-out or something. Ever single one I saw on the road was rotting, but it was a Dodge too. I ground the door until I had nothing but good metal, resulting in the majority of the door bottom removed. After replacing the window gasket, I used foam in the can to make a mess, then carved the door shape out of it. Bondo-ed it, Glassed, primed and painted. Never had a problem in the three years after I did the work.

Mono Foam (What its called at the home depot here in Canada) Or Expandable spray foam insulation, Filled my rockers, rear quarters, found a nice hole in the rear quarter under the bumper (when I removed it) Filled that area too,

You can shape this stuff when it dries, than glass over it. Ive found it helps keep the moisture out and stops the rust.

I imagine my flatbed will look damn silly once its done. I'll post a pic of it when its finished.

the last flatbed I built was on a 74 chevy PU, out of 2x4s and plywood

held together with drywal screws.
I didnt intend for it to be facy or last very long but it outlasted the truck, and I hauled everything from bricks to slag on that flimsy thing.

I plan on making this next one a little bit neater.

4 Hummer, ill try to post a pic of how crapped out my rear rockers are....

one idea i had was trying to remove the rear bumper parts that return back along side the body and try to achieve a shape similar to the tacoma.....then do an after market flat rear bumers

im thinking that the cut out panels wont hide all my rust problems....and the bushwaker fender flares will just cover it up till it rots the entire side of the truck

Do what I did and just cut it out and weld in new metal and expand your fender wells to accept larger tires. Only way to get rid of cancer is cut it out.

Brian, I like the trimming job you have done. I will probably copy it in the next year or so.
