Another question about Supercharger....
I know everyone is tired of talking about superchargers, but i have searched and not found and answer to my question. I am looking to buy a supercharger for my truck soon, probably used since i dont have $2500 to go buy a new one. The TRD supercharger basically a Eaton M-62. I can buy a brand new Eaton M-62 for signifigantly less then a used TRD version one. So my question is will the non-TRD Eaton M-62 fit? Will i have buy lot of parts to make it work... could be a stupid question....
Thanks to anyone that could help

It would be way easier to do some sort of custom install for a turbine-type supercharger such as a Paxton, roots type superchargers pretty much have to be application specific. It seems like you could choose a small Paxton that pushed perhaps 2 or 3 psi, and then you might be able to avoid putting in the fuel mods as well, but you would only be putting out a little over 200 hp.
Remember, you really need to pay to play when it comes to the TRD supercharger.

Yea looking at it the housing is completely different. Do you think i could order just the the TRD housing from toyota and put it together myself? At that point also i might not be saving money.

I think you can find new superchargers for around $1800 though, not $2500. Also, URD kit will be about $1200, tuning equipment (gauges) about $200-400, and VB upgrade is about $1000 (including shipping). So for all the stuff for a supercharger with minimized risk, you're talking about $5000-5500, not just the $1800 for the supercharger itself. not to mention all of the "randoms" like installs, gaskets, wiring, etc... I'm sure you've read a thread or two about people thinking about supercharging, and people's opinions on fuel upgrades.
Food for thought.

Like I said before, IMO the only way to "cheap" supercharge is to do a turbine style that pushes only a small amout of boost (small being under 4 psi). This might leave you with upgrade options later on, such as intercoolers, bigger chargers, fuel upgrades, etc. too.
With the TRD, it's all or nothing IMO.

Yea i have done all my homework on the whole thing. I know what i need to get to make the whole system work correctly. I am just exploring my options and it turns out i dont have many. Yea i am still deciding between the 7th injector and the URD kit, but leaning toward URD. Thanks a lot for your insight

One thing: it looks like the first superchargers were actually a semi-regular looking eaton with extra intake manifolds to attatch to it. Look on gadget's site. They are kind of ugly, though the gen 2's are the custom casting with the same rotors and nose drive (and subsequently, are much smaller overall).

You might check w/ the folks @ Magnason Research. They are the folks who do the rebuilds on TRD 'chargers. May save a few bucks on a rebuilt unit. Check the URDUSA web site as they were offering a closeout on new 1st generation 'chargers.
If U decide to s/c with an auto trans., you MUST get the valve body modified to lock the clutches up quicker & tighter or U will lose 1st/2nd gear.
IPT offers v/b mods for $ 525. + shipping.
