Aftermarket Spark Plug Wires

Does anyone now of a good company to get spark plug wires from: every company I have checked doesn't offer a set of wires for a '97 3.4 V6 tacoma. The V6 has a strange setup for the wires, but there still should be wires out there for it. If anyone has some from a brand they would like to recommend, it would be much appreciated.

Magnecor

I bought mine for $75 from a local speed store that caters to the Integra crowd. That's an excellent price, btw. You would need the same wires as are on my truck.

Hope this helps.

I have the blue Magnecors in mine. I always ran performance wires in all my cars. The stock spaghetti is good quality, I just could'nt get over how thin they were. I just changed plugs yesterday. The wires are over 2 years old and look/work great. Got mine from a speed shop here...special order that took 3 months...the owner felt bad and only charged me my 40 buck deposit.

What size garners the best results? I mean should I stay close to the stock or just grab the 8.5" and call it a day? How has it affected your overall performance? What were/are the negatives, if any?

Just Curious,
Outkast`

Did you just search through a magnecor catalog, or just call them, tell them the make, model, and engine, and they told you what wires you needed?

I went with the NGK Blue wire set. TE66 I go them for $41.00 including shipping from autotoyotaparts.com. They are not thick like some I have seen, but to me there seems to be a difference in the way it runs.

I got the same ones. I like them. Thinking of getting the MSD ignition, but its pretty pricey.

Plug wires

Thats amazing that you guys are replacing you wire set. ( just 3 wires in the after market set? ) Cylinders 1, 3, 5 have coil over ignition packs on them. So, 2, 4, 6 have plug wires on the 3.4L engine. I see O.E.M. wire sets daily and have never replaced a set yet. ( although 2.7L has alittle problem ). Cool, i dint even know MSD made ignition system for 3.4L . Thats got to be expensive.

What does the kit come with? Coil packs and wires?

Kxpaul.

I replaced my stock plug wire set because I knew that it was very restrictive and caused a spark energy loss to the one bank.

Here's some info on the MSD system.

Hope this helps.

I did a search in the Magnecor catalog and then brought that number to the local guy so he could order them for me. Here's the part #'s and retail prices:

67216 - 7mm Wires - $90.64 (I have these)
60216 - 8mm Wires - $92.99
65216 - 8.5mm Wires - $125.82

By the way, after installing these, I noticed easier starts at all temperatures.

Hope this helps.
Dr. Z

PS Outkast - I think the 8.5mm on our trucks would be a waste. I spent a lot of time reading the info on Magnecor's website and came to the conclusion that the 7mm would be a benefit, so I bought those. They will more than likely outlast the life of my truck and I do not see any negatives to them.

For anyone curious about NGK wires, I checked in my Haynes toyota repair book(a.k.a. the truck bible) and toyota puts two different type of spark plugs in their 3.4 V6 and 3.0 V6 engines, nippondenso, and NGK. Call me crazy, but if toyota puts NGK spark plugs in the vehicles out of the factory, NGK wires will probably be a good deal for your toyota.

Hey Paul. What was the problem with the 2.7? I got the 7mm also. Did notice a slight increase in 'pep'...

They seem to develope spec. miss fire codes due to OEM plug wires shorting out in spark plug tube.
Also Fuel Injectors set P0300 for random miss fire.
