99runner / fuel gauge TSB /Mileage question

Hey Guy's,
Anyone here have their "1/4 tank off " TSB problem get worse???

I just used 2.6 gallons off of a topped off tank and the gauge is showing just below 3/4 tank???
Thats way off of how it was when I purchased the vehicle at 46,000 miles
I now have 92,000. I can actually watch the gauge drop.
Yes, I knew about the TSB when I bought it and have just gotten used to it.....

but it seems to be getting worse
So, I've driven 46 miles and the gauge reads under 3/4 tank....

Not to mention only getting 17.9 on the hwy. Not good.
I just did the 02 sensor, throttle body cleaning, silencer removal, plugs(visually checked for consistant gaps), Amsoil cleaning, MAF sensor cleaned
and battery disconnected.
The truck runs like a top.

The mileage thing has got me bugged...........Does it take time for the computer to reset after the 02 sensor install??
Any comments on these two issues would be appreciated....thanks
Kenny Sharrocks

For the TSB i have been lucky and mine stays with a steady malfunction. My gauge drops normally but empty is when the gauge says 1/4 left. I have noticed that it wne screwball once when i disconnected the battery and it dropped to 0 until I filled back up. For the computer learning, pull your EFI fuse for a few min and the comp will reset, learning from scratch. or you can disconnect the battery as well. If you do not it will take the computer some time to figure out and learn from the changes,..this ranges in opinion from 50-100miles

thanks for the info.
My runner "usually" has 5 gallons left when the gas light comes on.
So I go until it goes on and then 13-13.5 gallons fills it.
Who knows know.......K.>S

Well, I didn't know of any TSB for this! I've got a '96 and shortly after I fill up, the guage plunges downward and leaves me wondering how much fuel I have left.

Guess I have to look at this.

Not sure if it covers 96 runners BUT I learned about mine shortly after buying it from a private party.
He just mentioned that it did not get good gas mileage.
I'm guessing Toyota did not properly inform the owners of this TSB because that guy would have had it done in a flash.

My Chevy TSB's have been followed by NUMEROUS mailings and bulletins sent to my home and I'm the second owner.

For me it looks like a tough fix and I'm never going to do it unless I have to sell it. Kenny >S
