98 start problem

This has been happening on and off and right now, a boost wont even start it from the battery charger.

Here is a sound clip of me trying to start the motor a few times. Ignore the clicks at the end, that's my recorder.

The battery charger says it's full but i can't seem to start the truck.

edit: it was working fine yesterday

you'll have to type in the security code and then it will let you download the file.

wow that web site was a hassle lol. any way yes that would be the starter. you need contacts or just clean the ones that are in there. and it should work.

how would i go about cleaning the starter contacts?

i charged the battery for about an hour and cranked it again... it hesitated and then it turned over and started.

how old is your battery?? i would start with the batt connections if there ok then have the battery tested if thats good then it is likley that its your contacts. i have never taken one apart! so maybe some one that has will chime in! i usaualy just take the starter out and then have it rebuilt or cleaned.

it's less then a year old.

gonna take it to the shop tomorrow and get it rebuilt. 98 sr5 v6 with 360 000 KM i think it's time to get the starter looked at. we had the starter solenoid get stuck once and tried to start the car when the key was out of the ignition. had to pull the battery contacts for it to stop.
