98 4 Runner Ecu --Mods ??
so i'm going to be venturing into the 3.4 swap into my 92. I have the full wiring harness, engine / all accessories, and ecu. The ecu is a manual 4x4 5vz btw.
The first thing i did when i got back from the junk yard is threw the ecu on the work bench and cracked open the case. The only thing that catches by eye is the factor 2x5 connector on the board which needs to be soldered on. I'm thinking this is some kind of raw data serial connector for the yota techs.
Does anyone know what it is? And can possibly shed some light on this. I would think that if i knew the pinouts of that connector i would build a simple rs232 interface to do some simple data logging.
let me know...

but what about possibly re-flashing or reprogramming fuel / ign maps on the fly. i know serial data transmission over the wire would be slow as a terrified snail. but it would be a possibility to interact with the onboard rom.
data-log -> adjust maps as needed then reflash rom with new data.
