95 Runner Price

I just took a look at a 1995 4Runner that appears to only have 64k miles on it at a nearby used car lot. They are asking $7950 for it. What does everybody think? A good deal or are they trying to dump it because of some major problem? I'm kinda skeptical my self. It sounds too good to be true.

Here are the specs: 1995 SR5 V6, 4WD, Auto, PW, PL, Cruise. Super clean except for a dent in a corner of the rear bumper. The frame and undercarriage are unbelievably clean. It looks like it has never seen salt, dirt or anything but the inside of a garage. Thanks for your input.

I would tend to agree. At that price, it is a good deal, but if you are serious, it would be worth the $50 to have a mechanic check it out.

Also, you can run a carfax report.

Unlimited reports for a period of 30 days is only $19.99.

Carfax Report

Well worth the while if you are seriously considering buying a car in the next month. You can even see how many records they have on file before shelling out any $$$.

I got my 1994 V6 Sr5 4x4 for 8000 bucks so u gettin a 95 for a little bit cheaper is great and mine has 90,000 miles and its older and it still cost more then urs. SO i would go for it unless theres sumthin majorly wrong with the bumber or dents or sumthin then i would say go for it

I got my 92 with around 175,000 miles on it for $6500 (including tax, title, and license). But get a mechanic to check it out as everyone else has said.

I paid $8500 for my 95 with 90K. I just started noticing the prices are dropping. I guess it's because of the new body style or something. I saw a 96 with less milage than mine for $9000.

95 Runner

CHECK IT OUT REALLY GOOD!!!

I had a local dealer try to sell me a 95 with 75k on it.. The darn thing had many little quirky problems with it. ABS light on, Rear Window switch not work....

Also, buy car fax and then check out the VIN number.

I finally settled on a 1995 Ltd. out of GA off ebay... It was a one owner vehicle...

I paid 10,500 for it. Which, depending on the book you look at, top retail is between 10500 and 12500.

Sounds like a good deal as long as you run a car fax and get it checked out.

Roll on Yota!

Figure it this way. Its on the used car lot for a reason. Most likely it was wholesaled by a large dealership and auctioned off to this little dealership. That's rare to find mileage like that at that price.

The guy is probably into it around $4K. Keep that in mind.

Just like the other guys said:

1. Run the VIN at a dealer for the head gasket recall (not likely, but worth it)

2. Carfax it

3. Have a mechanic check it out (thoroughly)

4. Make the guy a resonable offer. He should come down, even from that.

Let us know.

Well, I knew it was too good to be true. It actually has 164K miles on it. In addition there was body damage on both of the rear quarters. I think I'll stink with my 92 with 160k on it for now. At least I know what the past history/problems are. Thanks for everybody's comments.

I looked at so many when I was looking to buy. I had this guy list one on ebay that was local to me. He claimed it had never been smoked in, it had just turned 100k. Not a scratch. Never been in a wreck. I took off work drove and 1.5 hours to look at this thing. The interior was damp/wet. It smelt like some one dumped a bottle of cologne in it. It had cigarette burns in the floor board. It looked like someone took 60 grit sand paper to the back right quarter panel, and the back windows would barely roll up. I couldn't believe it...plus he wanted 9k for it. All I can say is this. If you can, be extremely patient. I actually prefer to buy used. I've never had a problem with a used car, but I've been patient. It took me 1 year to find my 94 Rx-7, but it was perfect. It took me 4 months to find my 4Runner, and so far so good. I've only picked up a minor oil leak so far. The worse thing you could do is rush into a purchase. Good luck on your search. If I run across anything that looks good I'll shoot you a mail.
