I run 4.88's in my 3.4L 5spd T100 w/ 35's, and that is slightly over-geared compared to the 4.10/31's that it came with, but I wouldn't want any less. This one is mostly a pavement pounder, otherwise I'd probably go with 5.29's. With an auto 4.88's would be about even-geared (since auto's came with 4.30's), but I'd probably want 5.29's regardless.

On my 3.4L auto 4Runner that I just put 285's on, 4.56's would probably get me closest to even-geared, but I'll probably go with 4.88's for the extra torque. The auto has a higher overdrive than the 5spd, so that will help on the freeway. I'm surprised how much of a power hit this thing took with the 285's.

And FWIW, I've run 5.29's on my 22RE 5spd with 33's (way overgeared on the highway, but great offroad), 35's (decent match for on and offroad), and now 37's (back to being undergeared on road, and the crawler helps offroad).

I've also run 4.10's with 35's. The T100 did OK that way, but the '86 SUCKED.

haha, I was so surprised that I regeared, haha. It was amazing to me that when I stomped the gas in 5th on the interstate it almost seemed to slow down, hehe.
