I would suspect it had to do more with proportions. put 33s on a grand Cherokee and they will look huge. But on a 3rd gen 4runner, with ~3" of lift, everythign is proportioned well - they look like they belong on the rig.

IMO.

I have had my 33's for a while now and I think that just over time, my brain is used to them and they look small.

When I first got 31's, I thought they were huge. Now I think 35's would be about right.

I was also informed that metric Goodyear 33's are taller than my 33x12.5's

Doink, I meant to ask you in your thread, did you drop your rear lower control arms? It looks like it in those pics.

Thanks, still toying with that idea of a body lift. can't decide. I may still be hitting you up for those lift lips if I do. What's up with Monty tonight, he's a slow beast!

thanks, I got to get me a wilderness rack and a rear bumper like yours! I'm just afraid I won't fit in the garage anymore with more height and more length since I have my work area infront of the runner in the garage. oh, and some black wheels. didn't get them with the 33's because I was told they wouldn't fit but now I know better so in the fall I may be plopping 200+ down for a set of black 16's and a fifth 33 for the spare.

Maybe, $400 for the set. I haven't thought about it so that's pulled out of my arse, off-hand.

That's a good asking price

When you get your new wheels, and are ready to sell, let me know and we can talk. BTW, do you have the center caps too?

you got a pm.

Yea, I just want to cover the cost of 5 black crawlers and mounting.

Yep, still have those big-azz things but I stuck a big magnet on each and I use them for parts bowls while working on the runner.

PC tires always look smaller. and since you are on a 8" rim, it will make it "look" smaller. my friend had a set of 35" PC MT on 15x8 rims. they looked like 33" compared to my 35" BFG MT on 15x10 rims.

I have noticed that as well with my 31s. Mine actually measure a little less than 30" off the truck.

A couple of quesitons:

Why the move towards the black rims, Keisur?

What is the correct backspacing and lug spacing on 16X8 rims for 3rd gen's?

I'm looking at a deal at 4wheel parts at 1000 dollars for 285/75/16 MT's on black rock crawlers- is that a good deal?

Hate to think what mine would look like if I parked it on your driveway.
