3.4 L CEL on and off...
So, i just became a member to this forum, and i am already enjoying its services. but my question deals with my CEL coming on and off at random intervals. when it was on one day while at a friends house, we scanned it with his scanner and, i don't remember the ecact code number, but it said "Throttle Position Sensor - Circuit A". i even had a local toyota shop scan it for free about a month later when it came back on, and it said the same thing. should i be concerned about this, and is there a do-it-yourself fix for it. any info will be appreciated.

All you can really do is pull the code when it's on and either fix the problem that caused it to come on or clear it and see if it comes back and then pull the code again.
If you use the "Search" buttom in the blue bar beneath our banner, you'll yield a ton of info about all the various codes that people have had come on. If you search for the actual code that you pull after the CEL comes on, you'll get even more of a specific answer to your problem.

yeah, when i scanned it at my friend's house, we DID clear it, and then it came back about a month later, which i then took it to the toyota shop for the scan, and it yeilded the same results. could it be fixed with something as simple as cleaning some of the connectors?

I had that happen on my 22re. It was the same air flow meter code; it turned out that some wires were rubbing against the EGR valve and through to the wires. When the wires were touching the EGR valve, the engine light would come on, but sometimes they wouldn't, and the light would go off. So first off, before buying any expensive stuff (like I did! $130 on used air flow meter, it wasn't the problem!), check your wiring harness carefully.

i'll definitely check the wiring really good b4 the next time i drive it. i'm in college right now, so the only time it really gets driven is for trips to the grocery store or on long trips home - a/b 220 miles, which raised the question a/b it affecting my mileage/performance. but thanks for the info.
