2nd Gen Runner 84-94 Truck Compatibility

I often see suspension products listed as compatable for both, in fact a repair manual I got covers them both. I know this is often looked down upon, but I have thoughts of lowering my truck, as lifting it is impractical where I drive. I seen some parts for lowering toyota trucks from 84-94, anyone know if they'll fit/work on my 2nd gen Runner?

The front end components should be the same with the possible exception of the torsion bar.

The rear of the truck has leaf springs and the 4Runner has coils.

I know in the front you could use drop spindles. What else could you use to lower the back besides coil springs?

That's pretty much it in the back. It is simple and works well. I would assume that lowering springs are available. Don't know myself 'cause I like to look down on lowered trucks (haha very punny, eh )

Now for some questions about coil springs? Are there any other suvs that have coil springs that will work in a 4runner? Also I've heard some mentions of custom coil springs, anyone know the calculations to figure out the spring rate and length for a certain drop?

Buy me a new set of OMEs and I'll give you my sagging butt springs.

OK... on a littlemore serious note. What ever happened to just cutting off a coil?

Folks down here have been doing that or removing one of the leaves to lower pickups for years.

Most people I've talked to says it will mess up your ride quality quite a bit. I'd rather try and retain stock or better than stock ride. So no one knows the suspension equations? I would have figured that with the stock spring length and rate you could figure out the specs of a drop spring. Anyone know about using drop springs from a tacoma? Or maybe even some domestic suv/trucks, seeing as drop springs are plentiful for them?
