2" RB Body Lift Installed

Well.. it took me about 8 hours. I wasnt expecting myself to finish it any faster but without greasing all the body mounts and only having about 3 feet of space to work on each side of my truck, it went pretty well.

Pics are at: community.webshots.com/user/toyotadan

The pictures were taken at night so the might not show up. They show up fine on my computer though...

Everything went pretty easy. The bolts came out surpisingly easy for not being greased. I just used the handle off of my highlift jack to help loosen the bolts.

When done i went to take it for a drive. only problem was that I couldnt get it into any of the gears. So I took off the boot around my shifter and it worked fine. But now I can see right through to the road by my shifters so I gotta cut the rubber and seal it back up

Another problem is my steering. At the moment its sitting outside and I dont want to drive it around for fear that I will do something to my steering. It feels like there is quite a bit of tension when i turn.

Other than those couple of problems, everyhting is great. I couldnt be happier, and for such an inexpensive lift it is totally worth it..

Thanks,
Dan

I put a 3 in body on my truck and had the same problems with my boot. So I replaced it with a factory replacement. I had to bend the long shifter forward a little, but the short shifter still won't go in 4wheel high or low and stay engauged. I'm thinking I may have to tear apart the transfer case and see if something else is wrong. Did you find a fix for your problem?

Looks good. How does it feel with the body-lift installed does it feel scary around corners or does it feel ok?
Since I cut the hell out mine to fit 33's if I had a 2" body-lift on I would be running 35's.

Cool man. I installed my 1" RB BL last weekend. Subtle yet nice difference all around. No hitches with the 1" worth noting.

I am happy with the looks of the kit with my stock tires.

2" RB body lift

I did a 2" RB body lift on a 3rd gen 4Runner a few months back and it took me about 3 hours with no problems. My 4x4 shifter sits 2" lower in the boot in the cab, but other than that, no issues whatsoever. I have a complete write-up on my website.

Good luck with fixing your issues!

Gotta link to your website? I clicked on the "85 4Runner" link below your name but that only got me the 2 pics and the for sale stuff, no other content that I could see.

Thanks,

Al

Thanks,

Did you loosen the connection on your steering shaft to let it slip ot a bit when you lift. If not, i would do it now you should notice some slippage. Of course, you then need to retighten it again. Also, there should be two boots together for the shifters. If you cut one of them off and just use onr of them it might help your problem. I also had to cut the steel plate that divides the two shifters
