Question 1986 Toyota Pickup Track times?

Does anyone know the track times for a stock 1986 Toyota Pickup (22RE)? 0-60, 1/4, etc? Thanks, I'd really appreciate it.

I thought I read on this forum along time ago that, some guy timed his 4x4 pick-up with a 22re 0-60 and it got there in like 21 seconds. Don't quote me on this though i could be wrong.

you guys need to know that a 2wd truck powered by a 20R/22R/22RE engine is actually pretty quick. much lower to the ground, less weight, less wind resistance.

my stock '84 2wd was FAST, and it had 3.08 gears(most 2wds have lower gears) and an 8" diff because it was a 4 speed. it also had the shortest shifter throw in any stock vehicle i've driven. i can imagine if i had added a cam, weber, header and some oversized valves and head work, it would've been a real screamer

Someday I'll get a stop watch and try and time my truck. I'm afraid I'm going to be dissapointed.

Mines a 5 speed, but the shifter doesn't seem that short. I've been thinking about putting in a new cam. Any suggestions?

I bet you could find a 4.10 third for pretty cheap, throw that in there and ill accelerate like no other. But top speed I dunno about! Cam definatly will inprove quickness.I dont know about times but when I put mine in I sure could feel it. Have you done exhaust yet?

Only a Flowmaster Muffler. Next up should be the LCE Headers and maybe a high flow cat.

um guys, we drive toyota trucks....ie can be made ok, but not fast.

Fast is an Evo, skyline, a LS1/LS6 powered Trans am or a Z06, gmc typhoon/cyclone, lightning, SRT10, etc.... Gotta be under 14 seconds on the 1/4 to be fast....

With the system I should do the 1/4 in about 20 sec or so...I get passed by old farts in wheelchairs when I run on the track.

Not exactly. Velocity is a combination of speed and direction. Acceleration is a change in velocity (speed), turning is also a change in velocity (direction), but they are not the same thing.

Search around for TRD cams. They come in diferent setups for different desired results. I know the stage 1 is more to the low end/torque/wheeling application. Don't know much about the others. 22r and 22re can be made to scream, Its all a performance vs reliability vs wallet question. Also, poke around these guys' site for ideas.

might look into an engnbldr 270, TRD, crane or LC engineering cam. i think you'll want to shoot for one that improves the high end, not a crawler RV cam like most of us 4x4 guys do.

you guys that think a 22R can't be fast have little faith! old celicas were pretty fast as well, and guess what was under their hoods? the same engines that the hilux used! not to mention that your average celica weighs more than your average 2wd truck.

maybe my next one will be another 2wd...built to go fast, i'm building my 4x4 to go slow

how i'd do it...depending on which motor i have handy or cheap...

option 1 - 20R/22R hybrid. i have a decent "core" 20R head in my back yard(off a rusted up, siezed engine). the casting is probably good, albeit full of dirt and slime, but i think it could be cleaned up, ported and polished, and oversized valves installed. i'd put an LC or engnbldr 270 cam in it, and run stock 22R pistons in an early 22R block. if i'm right this would give about 10:1 compression since the chambers on the 20R head are smaller than the 22R head. since this is for racing, i'd go with dual side draft carbs, probably weber 45 DCOEs. for a header, i'd use an LC engineering 4-to-1 piece.

option 2: late 22R(E). for this setup, i'd go with an engnbldr street HO head. oversized stainless valves and polished up. top it off with his 270 cam. block wise, stock lazer block with 11:1 pistons, LC header. for fuel i'd either go the side draft route or EFI

I think ill have to disagree with you on that one.

ac·cel·er·a·tion

a. The act of accelerating.
b. The process of being accelerated.
2. Abbr. a Physics The rate of change of velocity with respect to time.

Change in direction is a change in velocity like you said, and change in velocity is acceleration, stated by defintion.

Not to be a smart ass or anything, just wanted to clear things up!

my 4x2 22r is pretty quick, i have an 8" rear with 3.07 gears, but i have a 5 speed... my vin plate says its got a w46 which is a 4 speed, but mines a 5, it probably was swapped out at some time..... its slower now that i lifted it up and have 31s on it... but it still scoots pretty good.....
