Travisfab's 1989 Pickup Build-Up Thread - Project "Desert Race"

A buddy of mine is building this truck in my garage. It's bad to the bone. He's not messing around with this thing, attention to detail, and top quality parts. I'll do my best to describe it.

1989 2wd, single cab pick up cab and frame. Full 1-3/4" .120 wall 4130 chromolly cage from front to rear, built by Richer Racing. 22R, stage 5 LC motor, 2.6L. 32 gallon aluminum fuel cell. Tacoma conversion bed sides, front fenders, grill, and hood. Front suspension is a Total Chaos Uniball kit. Rear is the 62" Deaver F67 leafs. CNC brake and clutch master cylinders. 33x10.50 BFG Baja terrain tires.

Finish work is all that's left. Wiring, plumbing, spare tire mounts, seats, shocks, and prep.

Plans are to race in MDR's pro class, 1500. He rides passenger in my truck for prerunning, I ride passenger in his truck for racing, good times!

These pictures are right after it got built and before my buddy owned it. You will see some differences in the new pics.

After he picked it up and started on it.

I will definitely get more videos. That one was with a crappy little point and shoot. The good camera will get pulled out when we do some desert runs.
