rockchucker's 1991 4WD X-Cab V-6 SR5 8 Years Of Pics (Pic Heavy)

So it all started with the purchase of a ~150k mile 1991 4WD Toy P/U X-Cab V-6 SR5. $4400 was the purchase price with a Canopy. The Father had taken it away from his son due to beating the crap out of it and not respecting it. Found it in the Little Nickel and went from there.

First trip to the Dunes for some riding...

A Deck I built...

Building a Fence up in Ferndale WA where I used to live...

My Tattoo Artist's Shop I built for him...

Ferndale finished Fence...

Mosquito Lake Road and more riding...

On the Coast for a wedding...

Trimming some Trees after the Lift on the property. 4" Suspension Pro Comp with Heavy Duty Rear Leaf Springs and Bilstein Shocks. I also bought some new Wheels and Tires as the old ones were all cracked around the Lug Holes from trashing on the Truck. BFG All Terrain 10.50 x 33". I am surprised the kid didn't break anything major...

Better shot of the Lift and new Wheels...

Preparing for Header and Clutch install...

2's across the board!!!

Exhaust and Exhaust Manifolds out...

New Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch...

SuperWinch Locking Hubs and Cross Drilled Rotors...

Northwest Off-Road Headers (will never buy anything from these guys again).

My own Custom Fuel Transfer Hose Intake...lol

No more Exhaust Manifolds...

Driveline...

Transmission out...

Resurfaced Flywheel...

Trans cleaned up a bit on the inside and new T.O. Bearing...

Clutch installed...

Heavy Duty Torsion Bars...

More HD Torsion Bars...

Interior...

Transmission back in...

Driveline back in...

Open Headers needing to be Welded to new Exhaust...

Video of open Header start up to head to the Exhaust shop. Don't mind the dialogue I stayed up all night getting it back together so I don't really know what I am saying...

New Trailer to haul crap around in...

Shot of the old Garage...

Truck with his/hers Pit Bikes. 125cc 4 strokers do a pretty good job of pulling you around being that small!

Me and my nephew back at the Dunes in Oregon for some sand time...

Truck in the background of this fireplace photo over by Clark Creek...

Then old Pops just had to get the same exact truck only a different color. Can't blame him though!

Doing some serious cleanup at the Ferndale house. The place was a mess when we rented it then eventually bought it. You can see the body damage on the Bed from the Ditch I visited on the way home one day...

Black Fender now...

Back in Ferndale working on the house...

The Toyota Trifecta...

Towing an old Z around to the front for sale...

Party time!

Random shot with Canopy...

More Z and Tow Dolly...

Dad's rig and my trailer...

Dad's rig with the Six-Pac on it after some springs and new Wheels of his own...

Workin'...

Playin'...

It will work, TRUST ME!!!

Not the smartest thing I ever did but it ended up being just fine. I am still alive...

Then Winter hit hard. Good thing I was in Mexico!!!

Another shot...

Pop's rig...

Double trouble at a Job out on Whidbey Island...

Back in Oregon for some camping and get away time...

Another view on the trail...

Happy Camper...

House is finished with the 1 year remodel. Sold for double what we had into it. =)

Boy do I miss the Farmhouse...

Just another Deck...

Done with the Decking...

~250k miles and a Valve sticks open on me...

In the shop while the house is for sale...

Heads off! Rebuilt and good to go! Owners took possession of the house while I still had my truck torn apart in the Garage waiting on the Heads. Very cool of them to let me finish the job up. Pretty cool of me to give them my Husqvarna Riding Mower too. Fair trade considering we banked on the sale of the house...

At the new House and Shop in Seattle...

There were not even tire marks on the Concrete in the floor of the shop. Some lady had the Shop built for resale value and to store her clothes. Talk about a score in Seattle. Hard to find a place like this with alley access, a 2 car tall Shop and off-street parking...

Building Benches and my first Z Customer...

Materials for the Workbench...

Then I bumped into this girl when she decided to stop in the middle of the intersection on a YELLOW freakin' light! I was loaded with Tools and Dirt Bikes in the Trailer. Nothing I could do...

Here is the damage to the Toy...

Better to see in the daylight...

Toyota +1 Points... Kia ZERO!

Truck in the snow with some kind of filter on the Camera...

Another shot that hides all of the blemishes on the Truck...

Damage from detouring into the Ditch...

I am not a Body Guy. Obviously I failed. Better than it was but a horrible job...

I think this reads 250k. She has ~253k right now on her. I have been doing a lot of Automotive work as opposed to Construction so the Truck has been on the back burner for a few years.

This is how she sits now with Venom Injectors that need replacing, Knock Sensor installation, a Starter and some TLC. The Starter is in(just got a call while putting this Thread together) and Injectors are coming from LCEngineering. They should be here next week. I have an OEM Knock Sensor already that I just have not had the time to install.

Thanks for looking!

That will be all.

End of line/

Thanks! Yeah it has been an adventure. I feel bad about letting it sit for so long but I have too many projects. Since I am a Mechanic the last thing I want to do is fix my own rig! lol I have a few projects to do before this one but it will be going in a month or two.

A Turbo Diesel swap sure would be nice too. I may do some research into this. Anyone have any information or sources for information?

lately alot of the turbo diesel swaps have been harder because of customs cracking down on half cuts from japan, best bet is a mercedes 5cy deisel swap or a 4b cummins, that or a volkswagan 1.6 TDI

A toyota diesel would probably be ideal but like westjohns said good luck getting one here reasonably. The 1.6 has been done a few times with very limited success. It just really doesn't have enough power. The 1.9 tdi isn't a bad idea but wiring is a nightmare and converting it to a mechanical pump is expensive. I like the tdi and we have one in the family, but to be honest they are pretty high maintenance. The 4bt would be awesome, but they are expensive and stupid heavy. You can crank some serious power out of one and they are tough. If you go that route avoid the 3.3 as its a partial Komatsu design and can be hard to find parts. That leaves the OM617 benz which I have in my truck. My truck was identical to yours. I think you would like it. The diesel isn't quite as snappy as the 3.0 was, but it feels to pull about the same with a trailer. I think re gearing might help my cause some. There are various other small diesels and with a little work anything can work. If you want any information on it holler.

Thanks! ^

It is all blue sky from here though. Right now I have to just get her running before winter hits. I have a guy that converts older Toyotas to Diesel right up the street. I will talk to him and see what the deal is on importing the Engines at least to WA State.
