Where is the factory ect switch on the 86 4runner. Might be something I'm over looking but I'm not seeing it on my wiring diagram. I want to rewire my 97 runner console I put in my truck to use the 97 runners ect switch.

86 might not have one. I can't find it in the 85 FSM. But I can find it in the 88 FSM and the 88 WD. It's called the Pattern Select Switch in those. So maybe you just weren't looking for the right thing.
Anyway, if you can find the ECT ECU, then you can follow the wires for the switch all the way to it(in theory).

Follow up: I just found evidence stating that 86 4Runners with a 4 speed ECT(Electronically Controlled Transmission) do have a Pattern Select Switch.

That's good. Turns out I spoke a little too soon. Since I went and looked around a bit more after posting, and immediately found a diagram showing where it is/should be. Which might confirm where you think it is(or not).
