broskyo's 1985 4Runner Build-Up Thread

My 87 4runner that I was planning on SAS has been totaled since the accident. I picked up this 85 after a couple of weeks with no wheels...its a 5 speed 230 thousand miles with a new longblock about 35k ago. All original pretty clean other than the dog hair that was in the back seat when I got it. What I'm shooting for is a fairly low lift no bigger than 4in, not sure if I wanna run 33's or 35's. I'm gonna gear it with 4.88's most likely locked front and rear. also planning on making a rear bumper and maybe front bumper and a front square D-shaft. I'm using trail gear stuff in the front springs, shackles, u-bolts, hysteer once I get a steering box and chevies in the rear.
The morning I got it

Put the front lift on and it was higher than I pictured it so I pulled a leaf and shortened the shackles a bit. Which helped with pinion angle because I'm not putting a front hanger on it. Didn't take any pictures of the process or what it look like before I lowered because it was raining and I just wanted to finish putting it all on and then it was dark.
Here is how it sits today(I'm going to cut the extra off the shackles later once everything is on)

Went out and grabbed some chevy leafs today I went with the 4x4 ones I figure I can always just a pull a leaf if I need to. I also got started on making the shackles for the rear. I'm gonna make them 6in eye to eye just like the ones in the sky kit and I can always shorten them. Now I'm just waiting for my shipment from sky for the spring and shackle hangers.
springs

shackles and bolts

Today I cleaned up the frame for welding the spring brackets, and then it started to get frustrating...I decided to work on the wiring problem when the trucks running and I turn on the lights I blow the taillight fuse and the whole truck shuts off, and now my rear window doesn't work. I installed a stereo and then this began to happened but it may have happened once before I installed it I not sure. So I completely disconnect the stereo and it didn't help there was also a 25amp fuse in the taillight slot and it is supposed to be a 15amp. There was also an old trailer light hook-up that I disconnect and still no difference.

Got the 63's in, all I got were some random pictures before it got dark. I also picked up some rims for the 35's. Still need to order a rear brake line, weld front and rear shock tower, rear flip kit, hysteer with IFS box and much more but atleast its sitting even now.

my buddy was doing the welding

how it sits now

You need to raise the bar that comes off the load sensing proportioning valve, its to low the way you have it now, so you will have very little to no rear brakes.

Nice, I love the Craig's List/ Junk yard/ homemade builds. You could have easily made those 63" spring hangers yourself, though. Is that an EFI or carbureted 85?

You may want to take your welder and make a new articulation ramp.

Other than that nice runner!!

Looking good. How is your body roll in the rear? Is it squirrely on corners? Looks nice and flexy.

your angle on your steering box looks a bit too flat.
just how much clearance do your tie rods have when the driver side spring is at full flex? I bet it is pretty dang close to rubbing on the spring.
-might consider a flat pitman arm
