Dizzy advance went in really well. Then Put in new NGK R plugs.
Went to check timing, she started out at 0. Played with the dizzy got to 5 degrees. Dizzy bolt was striped, found out that some of the egr bolts are the same size.
Re timed to 5 degrees.
So she is running at warm idle at 5 degrees of timing at about 1500 or so. When I plug back in the HAC goes to 8.
Idle still high.
Should I go after the carb?
Thanks

Well truck is running like dog ˟˟˟˟!
I am having a hell of a time with the idle, she idles high for a while but when I am driving it wants to cut out all the time when I put in N.
Makes wheeling a pain. I am about to throw this carb out the window and buy a weber.

Does it idle ok just sitting still? Like 2200-2600 rpm at high/warm up idle and 750-850 regular idle? 11-24-2012 08:26 PMdDoes it idle ok just sitting still? Like 2200-2600 rpm at high/warm up idle and 750-850 regular idle? 11-24-2012 08:26 PM
umm well no,
The start up idle is low, then once it gets warm it idles at like 1500. However when driving it drops down so much it cuts out. It sucks!
I have timed the crap out of it. I have not really messed with tuning to much. Its not a stock carb, but a reman carb.

Yea ok, I will do the thermostat today. Not sure where the heater coil that controls the choke is. Do you have a pic?
I am also going to try working on the idle adjustment as well.

Ok, today reset the idle mixture screw to factory with is 2.5 turns out. Then in playing with it I have to about three turns.
Then I tryed the idle speed screw, I have the Idle set to about 1500 right now, cant go any lower because it just goes way down and dies.
She also dies on me when driving around, go to N and she dies. Not all of the time but often.
Did get the truck legal today which is a win as well!

Finally got my marlin crawler shift seat and shifter ball installed. Shifts way better!
I also got to wheel her today! Nothing crazy, got in to 4low and she does all right.
I have some tire and wheel questions, started a thread for
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f177...l-help-261881/
Also my dam hood will not latch all the way, I have pounded on it , lubed it, adjusted a bunch. Still will not do it. Think I will go for some hood pins before this thing flys up in my face.

Allright fellas I said ˟˟˟˟ it and ordered a weber kit, fuel reg, LCE adapter, and jet kit for High ele. I also got the fokes at LCE to in stall the jets for me.
I hope this helps my rig! What should I run for timing?
I also need some rear springs or leafs to put in my front springs. If anyone has any for cheap let me know.

Looks like you are on your way! On the subject of springs, I would save up for a 3" or 4" Pro-Comp lift. They run about 600 bones, and you get new front springs, a new leaf for your rears, and all new shocks for the money.

Yea if I go new I will get the OME front springs there about 2 bills. That should level me out, the add a leaf for the rear.
I think I am going to get procomp 1000s for shock, for some savings. Was also thinking about shock hoops for front.
Thats down the road.
I need to get the thing running tits first.
Also in prep for the carb I am going to install new intake manafold gaskets, oil pan gasket, and I think oil pump gasket.
Also think my cat is all gunked up so a free flow system may be in order.
What are you running for timing? What elevation are you at?

I live at 3500 feet, I wheel at about 6. As far as timing, I don't remember exactly. I usually start with a light and the directions in the FSM, and then advance slightly by ear. Probably about 8.5 - 9 degrees with the advance removed from the dizzy. I also use a white paint marker to mark the timing marks, it really glows under the timing light.

WellParts came in!!!!
Now its cold and snowing, and I have no inside work space.
Pics, the LCE adapter
I have the LCE guys jet it for me this is what they came up with.
I also think my cat is clogged so I am going to cut that thing off, and runn a turbo muffler.
I will get on this when I can.

The issue is Its a elecrtic choke, but I got no attachment for the weber to stock plug. Should this come with the kit?
I went to start it, would not idle, the elec choke is not hooked up.
I reset the carb per instructions, little better.
I did go drive it, better that before.
Need to fix the idle, fuel pressure is at 4psi need to get it down to 3, whenever I figure out how to adjust the regulator.
