2014 Trail Premium 4runner- Yes or No??
Never owned a 4runner, think the new ones look ok but I am wondering about the different packages like KDSS? Really wondering if the new 4runners perform as well as the older ones off road. Not worried about fuel mileage, disappointed that their is not a v8 option. I just want an awesome off road SUV for the traveling I do, and I don't like all the traction control that cuts the power back in the mud or anywhere for that matter.
If anyone has any info or just plain opinion it would be greatly appreciated. I am new to this forum thing so I apologize in advance if I'm doing something wrong.
Thanks, texasyota

Texasyota,
Boy. . . . I could go into a million reasons to dive in head first but to address your issues with my limited time at the moment - I just bought a 2014 Trail Premium, then had to drive it 1800 miles from CA to TX with a 4300 lb. trailer in tow. It was nothing short of amazing. This replaced my 2004 because I needed a 4x4 and it towed magnificently! Sorry. . . little bit of a joy surge there. . . back on topic.
Toyota has definitely taken traction control to a new level with the 2014's. BUT it is easily turned off whenever wanted by just the press of a button. And turns off automatically when 4-Lo is engaged. There's a bunch of technical crap I could go into about it, but to cover it sufficiently would require way too much time and space. . . .
Here's some key terms to google - "Toyota Crawl Control" "Hill Ascent Control" Toyota Electronic Locking Rear Differential" "Toyota A-Trac"
Best of luck with your decision and know that I'm extremely happy with mine! If you have any specific questions after checking it out feel free to post back.
